Less Complex File Review (No Hearing) – Timeline & Decision Waiting

Hello everyone,


I’m hoping to hear from anyone who has gone through a less complex file review (no hearing) and can share their timeline or experience.


Here is my situation:

• I submitted my refugee claim in October 2024
• My file was referred to IRB shortly after
• I was informed that my case is eligible for file review (less complex process) in May 2025
• I submitted all requested documents
• No hearing has been scheduled

Currently, my application has not been finalized yet, and I believe it may be due to background/security checks still in progress. There have been no updates for a while.


I just wanted to ask:


Has anyone been in a similar situation?
How long did it take after being marked as less complex (file review) to receive a decision?
Did your decision come suddenly without updates?


Any shared experiences would be really helpful.

I have a a very similar timeline.
I applied on November 2024.
Got streamed as a less complex on October 2025 and submitted all requested documents two weeks after. Still waiting until now. My Front end security screening still not complete by the way so fingers crossed for us all!

only the file-review process is currently suspended.
People can still be scheduled for a regular hearing or a short/expedited hearing depending on their case.

So it doesn’t necessarily mean there will be no updates at all.

Hi guys quick one pls I submitted my case since Dec 2023 and my background check as being completed since last year March 2025,but am yet to get a hearing date from irb and anytime i called to know what is going on with my file its only answering machine picking up telling me to leave a message.and I spoke to my lawyer about it her response is I just have to wait pls anybody with a similar situation?

I know it sounds like a long wait but that seems kinda normal now days with the huge backlog!

Unusual if you were still considered less complex and may be stuck in security screening.

Try to contact your MP it is a long shot but not loosing anything by doing it!

You said FESS wasn’t complete in your post. Only were referred in Oct 2025 to less complex so actually not that long and fairly normal processing time these days.

you just confusing yourself and him. My claim has nothing to do with him or her! Wha Im saying is his case has been pending for more than a year knowing his FESS had been completed over a year ago and assuming he got streamed less complex over a year ago. So it is taking longer.

Thanks for the reply my background check was completed last year March so I just want to know if anything I can do in getting my hearing date soonest because I know am due for these.
