Hi

Currently I have a replacement PR card in process but I leave for a 7 week trip to Europe on Tuesday Feb 4th. What is the best course of action to take in this position to ensure I can return to Canada on my return flight? I've read that I will need to apply for a Permanent Resident Travel Document once I am overseas but I'm unsure how long the processing times are for these. It is possible that my new PR card will be approved and available during my trip, in which case I was wondering how likely it is that my girlfriend (who is joining me a month into the trip), will be allowed to pick it up/receive it. We live together at same address.

Any help and guidance on the matter is very much appreciated!

Stephen

1. There aren't really any published processing times for PRTDs.

2. It is possible your card will be ready in time for your girlfriend to bring it to you.

3. You need either the PRTD or the PR card to return.

Thanks for the info.
Do you know if it's possible for someone else to receive the card? Does it arrive in mail or does it require a signature from the applicant?

Hi

Thanks for the info.

1. Most are sent by mail, a few require the person to pick it up in person. If it is mailed, no signature is required.
