Hi

I have received my Permanent Residency and I am planning to do the landing next month. But I have to return to my current country of residence a week after my landing to settle other affairs before I can move to Canada for good.

Considering that I will not receive my PR Card within a week, what are my other options if I plan to return to Canada in a month?

1. Will I have trouble in applying for a PRTD (PR Travel Document) if I decide to go back to Canada a month after my landing?

2. After I land in Canada, how long does it take to receive the PR Card?

You will get PRTD. New PR card arrives in 45 days. You need to provide Canada address for card delivery during your landing.

Thanks. If you have not lived in the country, will the residency obligations of PRTD will be met?

For new PRs no problem. Attach copy of COPR along with PRTD application.

I am also in a same position, landed on Nov-1 and have to apply for a US Visa due to trainings. Do you think I need a travel document before applying for a US Visa?

PRTD can,t be applied from Canada. You will apply from USA.

Thanks for your response!!

Oh!! how long it may take??

If I complete all my documents and application, and submit to VAC in the US, that's what you mean?

yes. 1 to 2 weeks.

Thanks again for your time.

But, I am going to the US for 2 weeks only. And, in order to get a US Visa, will this be a negative impact that I have a one time immigrant Canadian Visa which is also crossed by the officer with a pen.
