hey everyone

so we sent in our application (outland)to Mississauga and they received it April 4th.we received our AOR April 23rd but still haven't received our sponsorship approval email/letter.:( :( :(

we called the call center (since the 30 day waiting time has passed) and they said our application is still in process and that sometimes it takes longer to do background checks.

my wife is sponsoring me from Pakistan. She's a Canadian citizen, living in Canada and is currently in second year university and not working. (we clearly explained how we are going to support ourselves)
she has never been on welfare or taken loans other then OSAP and obviously she has no criminal record.

we just want to know if anyone else had to wait a long time between their AOR and sponsorship approval letter? how long did you guys wait? It's been almost three weeks since we got our AOR.

i really feel like we're being impatient but seeing as how so many people got their SA right after their AOR is starting to worry us- yet again.

any experience would be appreciated!

good luck to everyone else out there.

For us, we didn't even get an AOR or ANYTHING until June 2012 (We applied in March of 2012). So I think you are one of the lucky ones to get the AOR. Give it another week, and call again. You are definitely over the time limit posted on CIC website since they are "Working on Applications rec'd April 8th 2013"

I'm not sure what kind of background check they would need to do. The only thing they need to verify is concerning sponsorship is her eligibility.

Like Parker I never received an AOR.

Not to be all doom and gloom or anything.. but I sent my application in late April 2012. They never opened it until August. I got sponsor approval mid-September. I was a student at the time.. but everything was kosher with my application and eligibility. For whatever reason, I think they forgot to run the background checks when they meant to. At least with your AOR you know it's there! After it exceeds the posted processing time, you can phone the call center to ask them to make an email inquiry. Mississauga will have 30 days to reply to that. That's about all you can do! It shouldn't be too long for you now.

At the time I sent my application in, most of the applicants were getting Sponsor Approval a few days after AOR, literally 2-3 days.

Mine took almost two weeks :(

It was awful! Hang in there. Everyone is different.

Reply: large gap between AOR 1 and sponsorship approval?!!

Hello @Solesilence, make sure your wife checks her spam/junkmail as well; however, I do not think you have to worry (yet :)). My experience - I am sponsoring my husband, we submitted our application on Feb. 7, 2013 and I received the AOR e-mail from CIC on Feb. 20, 2013 & the sponsor approval e-mail on March 28, 2013. So we waited over 30 days between those 2 documents/e-mails. 30 days from your AOR will not be until May 23rd ( I think......) & you cannot always go by what CIC says. In addition, my guess is if you phone the call centre 5 times, you will get 5 different answers ;).

Parker & CanadianJeepGuy (and many others if you read a lot of posts) are representative of what happens a lot unfortunately, some people never get their AOR documents.

Now in our actual AOR was listed (the Feb. 20th e-mail) our file application number (for my husband, the applicant) and the UCI number for me, the sponsor.

Prior to receiving the SA e-mail (March 28, 2013) I was able to log into ecas with the numbers from the AOR letter even before I received the SA e-mail and the decision (approved) had already been made. So.....see if your AOR has the application and UCI numbers and try to check ecas.

Another word to the wise, do not rely on ecas to be updated much (or at all) once the SA step is completed. Not to be negative, realistically this process for most spouses/partners is long and challenging so you and your wife will need to prepare for the unique stress ;D this experience will offer to your marriage.

Blessings.

Alright thanks everyone

i guess there's nothing left to do but pray, hope and wait.

i really appreciate the encouragement +1 or whatever for everyone who posted :)

Hi Solesilence,

Don't worry, as I think it's still pretty normal......look at the Jan 2013 and Feb 2013 spreadsheets:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AvI5l_hMO7UKdDEtTzVVZ2lzWmhRZzF6VzVfQWhBV2c#gid=0

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AvI5l_hMO7UKdGpaNzAzVGhGMXUtQWVfRTlqdVozY3c#gid=0

if you look at columns G and I, you'll see that it took a while for some people to get their SA after getting their AOR. In February, someone named mrs_d even got her SA about 30 days after her AOR (and today's been 21 days since you got your AOR), so I think you're still fine ;)

thanks, that's some more hope :)

I guess I'll wait for thirty days t complete before overly stressing :-X :-\ :'(

I'll let you guys know if we get it!

Praise be to God!!SA received!!!!!!!! :D

yes I know this is the beginning of the long wait especially for our country. ::)

but any progress is cause of celebration!! :P

thanks for all the encouragement, you guys really helped us stay sane. ;D
