language requirements for the permanent residency application

Hello everybody,
I would like to ask you about language requirements for the permanent residency application in Canada. If I apply together with my spouse and as a principal applicant I provide a prove of my language level (IELTS test results), is spouse accompanying me still required to provide the same, or mine test results might be enough?
