Hi guys,

I'm going over to Canada for a week on Saturday to try and bed in a bit and to get stuff sorted. My partner won't be coming as she has to work; I have to come back to finish up my contract in the UK then we'll be heading back together. Can I land and use my COPR without her there or does she need to be there? And will they be funny that I'm landing then going back for a month?

Cheers

If your Canadian partner sponsored you, then you can land by yourself. (If your non-Canadian partner was applying througn an economic stream and you were their dependent, they would need to land first).

If you're going back for a month you're going to have PR Card problems - it's definitely not going to be there before you leave, and probably won't be anywhere before you come back so can't be couriered to you by friend/family, but you'll need it (or a PRTD) to get on the plane (or fly via the US and cross the land border).

If you volunteer that you're only staying for a week and then leaving for a month, they may not want to issue a PR card at that point at all.
