LANDED..........
APRIL 9 :)
So, due to my own idiocy, all of the wonderful flights I was looking at as of midnight last night are now gone. I had a flight with a 3 hour layover in Calgary (as the first POE), and apparently that no longer exists.

Thus, if I buy a ticket that only has a 2 hour layover in Calgary for the POE interview, would you agree that this is a sufficient amount of time to go through the landing interview? The date of landing would be April 9. A tuesday at 3-5 pm? EEK!

Thanks!

where is your destination? if it is within canada you can do the POE interview at your last destination.

It would be Edmonton.

Bucharest - Edmonton.

unless you quebec as your POE , you can land where ever you want .

i think this applies to all canadian airports, but i know for sure that in montreal (and also in toronto last time i came in 2012) that you go through customs/immigration as soon as you get off your international flight, regardless if mtl/toronto is your final destination or not. that is why people who don't have canadian visa or visa-exempt passport can't transit through canada to go to the states (and same rules apply in the us too, can't transit through the us without a visa or being visa-exempt since you go through customs and immigration right after deboarding and before catching your next flight).

Your are correct but there was an exception here, i can not remember it, i think anyone who applied for Quebec Skilled workers visa need to land at POE in Quebec unless you have s Quebec Selection Certificate.

Thanks for all of your suggestions :) I eventually did find a flight, a little pricier than intended, with slightly modified dates, but there are nearly 3 hours in Calgary. So if for whatever reason I get a call he missed his flight, I can drive that nice stretch of highway, twice ;)

seems like a good idea. The landing "interview" (which is more a chat with the Immigration Officer rather than an interview) is only 10 min, but there might be a long queue at customs/immigration of several flights arrive at the same time. So 3h should be more than enough, but it's better to have to drive from Edmonton to Calgary rather than Montreal for example! :-)
Safe flight to your husband - almost there!
Sweden

Thanks Sweden! Not only is Calgary smaller, but closer to home if anything 'weird' happens at all :) Crossing my fingers!

I do not fully understand this thread. It is early days yet, because I have not as yet applied, but I need to know whether in due course, flourishing my entry visa, I can land in Calgary (from Heathrow), transfer to the short internal flight to Kelowna, and do my interview there. Sounds unlikely because Kelowna is such a small airport, but would appreciate an informed view!

I did come across a Canadian gov webpage that listed all of the airports in Canada, and the services they provide. If I come across it again, I'll post it here. But I would suggest googling this. I just reread my hubbys papers from the embassy, and they said the landing interview is done at the first point of entry in Canada, regardless of final destination.
