I am planning to land with my hubby next week. We will drive from Canada to the US, stay at my apartment in NY for a couple of days, and then do the landing when we come back into Canada.

So, we can fill up my car with my belongings and those items need to be listed on the B4 form, and all the goods to follow later (whatever doesn't fit in my car, plus my car itself) should be listed on the B4A? Is that about right?

Any comments would be appreciated!

Not quite. You will need two lists. One for goods accompanying and one for goods to follow. Each of these lists is one B4 and a variable number of B4As. The B4a is an overflow for the B4. You will need two copies of each set.

Thank you very much for your quick reply. So... Are you saying...

I need to

1) fill out one B4 for goods accompanying and make a copy.
2) fill out one B4 for goods to follow and make a copy.
3) fill out B4A for goods accompaying if the lines on B4 aren't enough, and make a copy.
4) fill out B4A for goods to follow if the lines on B4 aren't enough, and make a copy.

Sorry, I am not quite understanding what you mean by what I bolded in your comment...

The B4 only has a few entry lines on it, so you carry on with B4a sheets (0 or more, as required) to complete your list. CBSA requires two copies of each of the complete lists, one for them and one for you.

I think I got it. Thank you very much for your post.

I am thinking I may need the B4a form in addition to the B4 for the goods accompanying if I have a lot of small items to take with me when I land, but for the goods to folow, I have put together a spreadsheet (7 pages worth). Do you think for the goods to follow, it would be OK for me to just fill out the B4 and put the total cost by categories on the sheet (I have 10 categories of goods) and just attach the spreadsheet to the form and not bother with B4A?

I believe that they have accepted lists on non-official formats, attached to a B4. Ours was a huge list for goods to follow and took about 6 B4a sheets. Because of issues when dealing with CBSA at the port of entry, it ended up being cut and pasted into a right mess by the CBSA officer. It was still accepted by them however.
