So what happens next when you are short of what is the minimum amount and they checked for proof?
In that case, you’re likely to be a passnger on the next flight to your point of departure. The rules are clear and IOs the world over are paid to enforce them. So, I strongly suggest you do not take the risk of landing with insufficient funds. You may get lucky and end up at the counter of that IO that doesn’t care about POF, but no one can guarantee that.

All the best

If they randomly ask you and you fail to prove funds, then you will be denied entry and sent back. In simple terms, you lose your PR.

Also, for everyone's benefit. bank statement from home country works fine. To be on the safer side, do not print it at home. Go to your bank and ask them to either issue you a proof of funds letter (if they have this facility) or print statements there and ask bank manager to sign and seal it. Did the same exactly 2 years back. My bank was also generous enough to do a FX conversion and include the CAD equivalent in the letter they issued to me.

Are they suppose to ask for funds from family class? I just landed today and they only asked if I was carrying more than 10k. I thought of getting some statements but then forgot.

I’m seriously searching for an answer to this question, hence my first post. I may have to borrow some money to make it up, then pay back after crossing. Don’t want to take any chances.
Hey, was wondering how it went for you?
Even I will be borrowing money, so the statement should show 6 month average balance? Or can we show a current checking account available funds document. Please help!

Hi there. So I made up the funds and carried a statement of account dated back 6 months. N\But the only documents they requested to see were my CoPR and list of goods accompanying. that was it! this was at Calgary YYC. I would still advise that you make up funds and carry everything you need. maybe i just got lucky, I don't know. Good luck.

Hello
When we land for first time, we won't have canadian bank account, and we plan to land with just enough cash for the sake of easily carrying the money. After we've obtained the legal status in Canada, we'll open a bank account to bring more money.
In your experience, what is the best way to bring more? Shall we wire transfer them from home country bank account post opening a candian one, or bring a demad draft? or any other tool? thanks

I am a little confused. When my PR is approved is this something I have to do. I am a US Citizen applying for my PR with my Canadian husband sponsoring me.

I am planning to land in March 2019 and I have got an HSBC Advance Debit Card. It is an international debit card as it has the PLUS symbol in the back of the card, but it does not have the electronic chip on it. It only has the black ribbon which is swiped on retailers' card machines. Is that ok? I mean, without the electronic chip, will it be unusable?

And, I am planning to get 2 months of bank statements and a letter addressed to the High Commission of my country, including my current bank balance. Is that enough?

And, as I said above, I only have the Debit card. Should I get a Credit Card as well? I do not like to get a Credit Card as it would want me to show Credit Card statements also when I land, if the immigration officer ask for those.

Thank you.

Hello everyone,
I need your help:
If I land in Quebec with exactly the minimum amount required for a family of 5 (CAD 6100) persons knowing that I declared that I will be having 15500 CAD, will it be an issue for me?
it was not a misrepresentation from my side but, One of my friends borrowed from me a sum of money and because he is going through a financial issue he can not repay his debt at this moment.

Where did you get that number (6100) from? The requirement for a family of 5 seems to be higher than that
