Ideally, attach the photos of your (valuable) jewelry to your B4/B4A forms. That way they will stamp them too and you won't have trouble importing them later ... or bringing them back in on future trips. Gold ring can mean sooooo many different things!

Guys just landed today. The immigration officer and the custom officer both were very friendly. The whole process didn't take more than 15 mins.

Congratulations :) Glad it went super smooth for you.

Hey people i have one question. Pls advise. Do immigration officer check your birth certifi ate? Actually in india your 10th grade pass certificate is more than sufficient. You are not required to get one. Since my passport and all other documents like employer certificate, national id, income tax card etc all have my dob. But i sont have formal birth certificate. Will it create a problem for me in landing? I am expecting my dm by this month end.
Pls advise

A very useful thread. Thanks for posting.
I have a question about landing. I will have a lot of baggage with me. Allowance is 6 boxes of 32kg, 3 sport goods, 1x23kg box, plus 2 car seats, stroller, hand luggage. We will have 2 kids with us. I am guessing I will have to deal with all the luggage as my wife will deal with the kids. Does anyone know if I can take some stuff past customs and go back in to take the rest? Or any other ideas?

Hi SBDelhi,

The immigration officer didnt ask for my birth certificate but since I am born in Kuwait I had my birth certificate in Arabic. I got one translated from Kuwait in English before I landed. I would suggest you carry one as you never know what could be asked.

Thanks for your response.

People immigrating from india - can tell your experience pls.

They have the luggage carts available in the airports, or grab a Skycap (porter) for some assistance. I managed two 50lb bags, 1 22lb bag and a laptop case by myself using the cart (I was outweighed by my luggage!). It cost me $2 for the cart at Pearson, not sure what the fee is elsewhere. They are also fairly manageable with lots of luggage, those carts, I noticed some fellow immigrants with even more luggage managing by themselves.

If I can find porters at Calgary airport I would be fine. I won't be able to put six 70 pound boxes plus lots more on one cart. I am guessing three, maybe two if I balance well. Anyway, I have lounges and twonies that I will take for the carts.

Hello Gruja,

What airline are you flying? most airline only allow 1 bags (70lb/32kg) per bag and each additional bag is $100Cdn. You must paying alot for that many boxes...etc..

Air Condor. We upgraded to comfort class because of the baggage allowance. Normally ts only 1 23 kg bag. The price was still reasonable.

Plus, there's four of you traveling (2 adults, 2 children) from what I can see so each gets luggage allowance. Also, they may be using the car seats (safer for the children and better for the seats)

I just landed yesterday but the customs officer did not even glance at the b4 forms. All he asked is for the jewellery pictures which he stamped post verifying and then returned them to me.. . Now I am a trifle confused..he refused to look at the b4a form as well stating that he does not require it.

thats for added weight in bags but west jet charges $20.00 and if you have a third bag its way less than a $100.00 where it gets expensive is added weight always try to carry a small case if you can. Hope this helps?

I will only be carrying my clothes and personal gold Jewellery ....around 150- 200 grams.
do I need to fill in any extra forms or anything before landing
