Please your advice will be highly appreciated. I and my wife are on work permit but somewhere along the line she got out of status and was sent a letter stating she shouldn't be in Canada. I as her spouse and principal applicant is still under valid status and our PR application was in process when her status expired - ( work permit and 90 days grace). Our PR application has now been approved and we were invited to go for landing March 2019. The officer asked questions regarding her expired status and refused to land us. She didn't grant us the PR saying we should go and that we would hear from them. Am worried any advice would be appreciated. Does she/we stand a good chance please? Still waiting to hear from them.

If she was asked to leave Canada and she didn't, then there's a very good chance that your PR application has been cancelled.

CBSA may now issue a exclusion or deportation order for your wife. You should talk to a lawyer.

Thanks. She wasn't sent a letter specifically that she should leave Canada. Instead it was the refusal letter that usually accompanies the work permit upon refusal- and it was because we didn't pay the correct fee and by that time it was the 90 days implied status period had expired. So it was refusal letter stating my work permit can't be renewed.... and in it the officer also mentioned " by rule you shouldn't be in Canada". So She wasn't really asked to leave per say that's why she stayed and considering the fact her PR was in process as my dependent. Still worried.
