Landing in Canada without Visa

Hello
I am planning on going to Canada this summer and I am from Slovenia
Everywhere I read it says that Slovenian citizens do not require a visa for staying in Canada up to 6 months.
My plan is to get there, find a job and then get a visa in order to stay longer.
My question is, can I just get a plane ticket and land in Canada and that's it?
What are the things I need to do after landing?
Since it's hard finding all the info on various websites thought i'd ask here, any help is highly appreciated.

Thank you!

You can visit Canada without a visa. It is up to the immigration officer at the border if you get the full six months or only a shorter visit. Make sure it doesn't look like you are coming to Canada to work / live here - or you could be refused entry. Also make sure you have a return ticket (not one way).

You should assume the process of finding an employer in Canada will be difficult and long (and that you may not be successful at the end). You'll have to start by finding an employer in Canada who is willing to offer you a full time job. That employer will then have to get an approved LMIA (authorization to hire you). To get the approved LMIA, your employer will first have to advertise the job for at least a month to prove no Canadian could be hired for the role. Your employer will then have to submit the LMIA application for processing along with a $1K fee. The processing of the LMIA application could take as long as 2-4 months. If the LMIA is approved (not all are), you will then submit a work permit application which will take additional processing time. Once the work permit is approved, you will be able to start working.

They may ask for proof of fund during your stay in Canada?

You can try applying for an extension to your visit to see if they will approve a longer stay. If not, you'll have to change your booking to leave Canada earlier.

If you come to Canada looking for work without a work visa you will be denied entry.

Sure, you can look for a job, but you will not be employed without a proper work permit. And that one you will not get overnight. Do not work in Canada illegally..http://www.cnmag.ca/issue-35/477-jobs-consequencesof-illegal-work-n00
