Qorax wrote (in an excellent post!):
PR CARDS (PRC):
Your PR Card application (IMM 5444E) shall be done at the POE itself. It is part of the PR package [free] and the photos & details will be the same as you supplied for the PPR. Our PR Card/s come back to us via regular post mail, in 3-6 weeks, avg. 4 weeks.

But I landed 10 weeks ago, and no PR card has arrived. Maybe the postal strike made a difference, but other mail is now getting through. What is my next step?

Also I've moved apartments now*. Do I need to inform The Authorities?

Cheers
Womble

* the address I gave on landing - and where I stayed for the first few weeks - is my brother-in-law's, so there's no question of mail not being forwarded...

[FYI I called CIC, and they said it had been sent, but has probably been delayed by the postal strike. I should call back in 3 weeks if still not arrived...]

but qorax, you have mentioned it in this thread about carrying it filled preprinted--see below marked in bold

Even if you stay ONLY for a day at Canada, you will need the following:

1. Passport with stamped Visa. -off course
2. COPR (IMM 5292B)
3. POF. [for cases "without" AEO & family class] (details below)
4. Passport size photos. -2 or 3 for PRC (may not be needed, but good to have)
5. PR Card Application (IMM 5444E). -carry it filled pre-printed, for ease
6. Goods to Follow List (Form B4 / B4A). -carry it filled pre-printed, for ease
7. Goods Accompanying List. -as above, a table of things u r carrying on person (value & Totaled)

Hello Sir Qorax,

If for example a temporay worker will be granted a PR Visa, does he/she needs to exit Canada first? then go back to the POE or it can be automatic ? or just go to the POE & apply for the PR card? ::)

I've also repeatedly posted subsequently in this thread that IMM5444E isn't required anymore. It'd be filed 'online' by the BSO@the POE nowadays.

U've got three [3] options:
1. Exit/entry vide a foreign trip... probably homeland's.
2. Perform 'flag-polling'.
3. Get an appointment from a CIC office [wait times r currently over 6-8 weeks].

now am exp passport request..I'm based now in oman but am planning to move soon to india and take another job there..

will they transfer my case to india vo?

hi mr qorax, i have few questions...

1. applying for PR card form 5444E

Item No. 19 You must list all your residential addresses for the past five (5) years and must account for each month.

What if I have more than 6 residential addresses since 2006 and the spaces provided are not enough, will I attach a separate page?

2. Item No. 21 You must list all your absences from Canada in the last five (5) years. Absences include vacations.

Just leave it blank or N/A since I am applying for initial PR card.

3. To become Canadian citizens, adults must have lived in Canada for at least three years (1,095 days) in the past four years before applying.
Pls explain this statement.... I thought before 3yrs out of 5yrs. In my case, I will land Aug 2011 for 2wks & exit Canada. I will return Aug 2012 to fulfill my 3yrs committment... meaning I must stay in canada for 3yr straight w/o any vacation outside canada, to be eligible for citizenship?
PR card is 5yrs validity rt?!?

thanks for your kindness

Hi Qorax and others who have already landed in Canada.

I know this topic has come earlier, but I seriously am thinking of bringing all my stuff in a container by sea to Canada. I know you have mentioned that it is better to avoid taking anything, but if I sell my items in Dubai, they wil go for a bad price.

Now my bed sizes are 180 by 200, and the other one is 200 by 200. My dining table is a 4 seater, and sofa also very small. I have two leds both are universal voltage so will work there as well.

My question is, will my beds fit in the bedrooms overthere, I will be getting a two bedroom apartment or townhouse? Anyone can give me average sizes of bedroom size please.

Thank you

Whenever a form doesn't have enough space, you attach a separate page.

Whenever something doesn't apply, write N/A so they know you didn't just forget to fill it in. However if you are just landing as a PR now, you do not need this form as it says here:

If you are applying to immigrate to Canada, you do not need to apply for a card using the process on this page. Your Permanent Resident Card will be issued to you as part of the immigration process.

PR requirements are separate and different from citizenship requirements.

To keep your PR, you must live in Canada at least 730 days in your first 5 years as a PR and in any rolling 5 year period after that. Those 730 days can be in one go or broken up as much as you want. Your PR card is valid for 5 years. If you lose it or it is about to expire and you need to apply for a new one, it is not a problem as long as you have 730 days in Canada in the past 5 years or if you are PR less than 5 years that you still could reach 730 days in Canada before your 5 years are up.

To apply for citizenship, you must have at least 1095 days in Canada as a PR in the previous 4 years before you apply. That is, when you apply, they will look at the last 4 years, if you have 1095 days, you can apply. If you stayed for 3 years straight after landing, you could apply. If you follow your plan and don't really move until August 2012, you can apply for citizenship in August 2015. If you take vacations outside Canada during this time, you delay the time you can apply by as long as your vacation is.
