I received my PPR on 2/10/14. I will be sending a copy of my US passport and my husband's passport. He is a green card holder in the US, and is still carrying is country's passport.

1. I am planning to send the documents via Fedex and I will also enclosed a pre-paid Fedex envelope with my US address. My e- Cas has my attorney's (in Montreal) address. Will CIC use the Fedes envelope or will CIC send the passport and COPR to US via regular mail, or will CIC still mail it to Montreal?

2. Is there anyway to purchase the Xpresspost in the US? I am not able to purchase from their website.

3. My brother lives in Vancouver, can he purchase Xpresspost for me?
Hope you can give me a clarification.

What are the steps at Immigration office at POE ??
I ve heard that Immigration officer ask that how long we will stay in Canada ?? What should one say if he has to come back within one week?

At immigration, just hand over your passports and COPR. You will be asked to sign the COPR in front of the immigration officer (do not sign it before that).

For the PR card you just need to give your address in Canada for PR card delivery and he may ask to see your POF, other than that there is no further process with immigration officer (rest you have to do at other counters e.g. Services Canada and Customs).

You will be filling out the number of days you are planning to stay in Canada on the landing card you will get on the plane: http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/publications/forms-formulaires/e311-eng.pdf

There are 2 potential problems (very rarely faced, but I know at least 1 example of each) can happen if you are declaring your intent to stay in Canada for less then 1 year:
1. Immigration officer can refuse to process your PR card now and will give you an address update form to fill out once you come to Canada permanently (you can also do this online after you land). The only implication is not getting the PR card, however you will become a PR and your residency clock will start ticking as soon as you sign the COPR and immigration officer stamps your passport.

2. As per Customs regulations you are not consider a permanent resident (only for custom purposes) if you do not intend to reside in Canada for at least 12 months in that trip: http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/publications/pub/bsf5113-eng.html ... The implication here is that customs will not stamp your form B4 (goods to follow) on your first landing. As this opportunity allows new immigrants the opportunity to bring in any goods tax free at a later time that they declare on first landing, you may have to pay tax on some of the items you bring when you intend to permanently settle.

Well that makes sense, since they do not put a visa sticker on a visa exempt passport (like the US), they shouldn't ask for that passport, however most visa offices send everyone a generic PPR document and you end up sending everyones passport. I guess you got an efficient visa officer

The generic PPR document asks for 3 things:
1. Passports (except Canadian passport of dependent if any)
2. Photographs
3. Updated Information Chart (usually page 3 of the PPR document)

I guess you did not receive an attachment with your passport request email or you received another PPR document.

Plan to do the landing tomorrow, can I just drive to the border with my husband and leave the car at somewhere near the border? We can walk to US (our US visas were expired on January 2014) and come back via the Point Of Entry. Anyone did this before? Please advise!!! Smiley

Im planning to land with my wife and kid and complete PR formalities next month.Im planning to stay only 1week and go back with my family after landing.Because my wife need to gain 6 month clinical experience from any hospital back home to complete her nursing registration in canada...If I go back after 1 week of landing will it affect PR card processing?

Please advice
