Guys my return tracker got activated :P and I am expecting my pp on Monday and complete the landing procedure in the same week.
I had a couple questions and it would be great if you all can help me.

1. As far as I know I need to take my PP,COPR,driving licence ( for home address) to do my landing. Is their anything else that I should carry?
someone told me to take a bank statement of atleast 10k to prove that I am financially able to support myself . Is this true?

2.Since I do not drive,I am going to go to the border by either greyhound or megabus from Toronto but I do not know which bridge and how to go. How far is the rainbow bridge and peace bridge from the station and which station should I select while buying my ticket. Is it far from station? if yes , how can I reach there from the station? in short what is the easiest and best way to reach there? can I just walk over the bridge , enter US and walk back to Canada? or is it better to take the bus all the way to buffalo downtown station and do the landing on m return?

Please help me for the last time ;D and God shall help you all ;D
Thanks

1. There is no "10K" requirement. Since you are CEC, you don't have to show any settlement funds. Settlement funds are required for FSW. But you can however take a current statement with you. Just in case if they ask - It is better to be able to show something, than saying "I don't have it".

2. Go to Niagara Falls Rainbow bridge. You can cross the bridge by foot, and over to US side. If you have US visa you can enter US and spend some time :P , If you don't have the visa, you will get a slip, and they will re-route you towards Canada. Come back and complete landing. One thing few members have suggested - try not to go during vacation / holidays - Cause a lot of people travel, and border officer may not help you with landing if they are busy.

Since you have visa, get in to USA, enjoy the winter, buy a cup of coffee and re-enter Canada for landing for more winter :P

HI

I was speaking with a KPMG lawyer and they have suggested not to take the option of going to US without a visa. Basically the slip they give you is like a rejection to enter US and this will be a black mark on you forever. It might impact you if you are applying for US visa.

thanks a lot for the reply. Do you guys know how far is the rainbow bridge from the niagra falls station? and how can I reach there?

I don't understand.

How can this be a "rejection to enter US and this will be a black mark on you forever"?
Have you thought of how they are going to know it is you?
Do they ask you to submit an application?
Do they keep your passport? or any other document?
........ How will it be on their system? Any idea?
Do they ask "What is your name? give me your SIN, fill out these forms, now you are rejected and this will be a black mark on you forever"
!!!!!!

Sigh! Have you actually thought about it? or just because some one said it, and now it is a rule?

Could you please re-confirm this statement ? I have scoured this forum to find an answer to this question, and from what I understand, an administrative refusal does *not* put a blemish on your record. It is just a simple letter allowing you turn around from the border, on your own request while you had no intention of entering the States in the first place.

I think the kind of refusal you're talking about, is when you intend to enter the States, but they refuse entry for some reason.

I was at Rainbow bridge last nigh processing my admission refusal at US side. I asked them specifically about this and home land security officer told me if you request US visa in the future inside application say "yes" if it was a question about refusal but explain that it was for Canada landing process.
US government is fully aware that Canada made us do this so no need to be worried.

I had gone once by train. I had taken go train from union station in Toronto. Changed to a bus at one station and then reached Niagara go station. If you speak to the driver he would advise you. You can get off one station before the final station and actually walk to rainbow bridge in 15minutes. Else you can get off at go station and take a cab. It would cost you 8 to 10 dollars and would take you there in 10minutes. Good luck.

You are welcome :) I remember, I took the VIA rail from union to Burlington and then to a bus at Burlington station. You can get off at Stanley stop and walk or get off at Niagra VIA rail station and cab it or take the bus.
