I recently got my pass request and would like to do flagpole at the Coutts/Carway border when I receive my passport back. I would appreciate very much if any of you who had a similar experience, let me know about:

-Documents officers asked for?
-Procedure?
-Whether recommending Coutts or Carway- as I have heard Carway officers were not friendly in a couple of cases, however, it is very closer and have not heard any experience with COUTTS.

I received my PPR in more than 4 month since AOR, FSWP. Currently work on PostGraduate Work Permit in Calgary.

Thanks

I am also in Calgary. ..would appreciate I'd any kne cans hare any info related to these two borders.

Simranjit 22 g, I recently went to Carway border for getting a post grad work permit..they are very nice...without much ado, they gave it to me right away (although its NOT their work to give PGWP)...so I suggest tusi carway challe jao...on the flip side, my friends have been to Coutts, it is equally good..!!

Thanks bro....Yeah lets see. I am trying to get upfront date from Service Canada and Border Security office in Calgary. Otherwise have vacation planned during September long weekend for Vancouver. So, may be I would do it there.

It seems that Coutts is the biggest one.. in theory they should be more prepared.... planning to got there at the first chance once I'll receive the COPR...

My common-law boyfriend and I went to Coutts a couple of days ago.

We told the US officer we're going immediately back to Canada for the visa paperwork, he was extremely nice.

On the other side we got a lovely Canadian gentleman who couldn't have been more nicer. We got 'congrats' from two different Canadian border officers, the one who was doing our paperwork even commented it's a big day for us having gone through a lot to be here. It was great being acknowledged by the actual officer for the work and everything we've been through. I got teary eyes...

On the Canadian side we were done with everything in no more than 15 minutes.

Good luck to all.

Did my parents landing at Coutts-Sweetgrass border on October 7, 2016. We reached US side at 8:40am by car. Told the US border officer that we are there to flagpole for my parents PR. They told us to park the car and come inside office. Took about 5 minutes and they gave my parents the letter of refusal ( i am canadian citizen so they didnt give me any refusal letter), they also told that it wont be on our record. one officer escorted us back to Canada side. There was no one in front of us on Canadian side. CBSA officer gave us a yellow slip and told us to park the car and get into the traffic line. Again, there was nobody there ahead of us. CBSA officer was very nice to us, told us to wait for a few minutes before he calls us. Took about 5 minutes before he called us to sign. After signatures he explained about getting SIN card health card etc and congratulated my parents on being a PR of Canada. He asked my dad if he wants to work and what he liked to do. My father told that he is retired and likes travelling. He said all Canada is now open to explore now. Smiley welcomed and asked sorry for small delay (there was actually a system glitch which took about 2 minutes to resolve, cant believe that nice guy was sorry for that little extra time). Took around 15-20 minutes for the whole process to complete and after that we were on our way back to Calgary.

In a nutshell, the landing at Coutts was an extremely great experience and i will highly recommend if someone wants to land at the border in AB and doesnt want to wait for IRCC landing at Harry hays. Please be sure that you go there on times when its not too busy. May be that is the reason sometimes they are in a hurry and doesnt behave nicely. I would recommend a working day early morning - after 8am).
