I landed in Calgary. It is difficult to get hired because you must have Canadian experience. So i just applied at different agencies and you call and let them know when you are available and you will be sent to go and work.

Things are gradually coming down to normal.

The beginning was so hard but there are hopes.

Thanks, so how long it took you to finally land a job?

I have not landed anyy job yet i decided to change my field and study. I notice that once you have a certificate from Canada you are much more better chances of having a job. So i decided to do it right away.

In Bow Valley College now.

Is it possible to have certification from Canada while you are still outside Canada? can you suggest some certifying agencies?

Hi Friend,
It depends on what you want to study. Some courses are online, but tell you the truth it is hard to do online courses , maybe it is only me. My opinion is there are some practical examples you get in class that it is hard to get online studies.

Hope it helps.

Well, I have landed and applied for my SIN. Highlights:

Border Patrol (USA) allowed my husband to enter the USA without stamping his passport or asking any questions. This includes not verifying my COPR. :O Of course, we did a quick turn around, but still! I thought they would at least verify my COPR. The guy was nice though. (For anyone that doesn't know, I am a US citizen.)

CBSA was stern. Not rude, but stern. No "Welcome to Canada." I got that today instead, from a Mexican woman working in the Registry :) (And my first comment was about how great Mexicans are - my husband rolls his eyes.) She asked what states I had lived in and collected my old Visitor's Records. The guy in the office when we entered was being a jerk, so I guess he fouled their moods because she did show some improvement from when we first arrived to when we left. (He had a DUI and they required him to get a Visitor's Record - so he had to spend $75 to enter. They could have refused him entry as well - he should feel lucky although I do understand his point because the DUI was 30 years old.)

Applying for the SIN had a long wait, but the process was easy. They will ask for your parent's names, including your mother's maiden name. If I had known, I would've prepared a typed statement because my mother's maiden name is very hard to spell.

I also interviewed for a job today. They called me back for a second interview on Saturday already.

I also changed my name to my married name officially. My husband grinned from ear to ear. :) He's so cute.

Dear Friends

I am new to the forum and want to have your valuable advice for my real concern.
I have landed Calgary in last week of June 2013 and returned back to my home country within 35 days without receiving PR card. I have received my SIN and health card on same Calgary mail box (relative address) whereas PR card still awaited. Its almost four months passed…
By exploring cic website, following options are available:

If you live inside Canada and if it has been longer than the time shown above since you applied, please contact the Call Centre. (1-888-242 2100)

Or

mail/fax pdf document (IMM 5451) SOLEMN DECLARATION CONCERNING A PERMANENT RESIDENT CARD THAT WAS LOST, STOLEN, DESTROYED OR NEVER RECEIVED

Your guidance is requested in order to take what further actions required or still have to wait silently.

Anxiously waiting for your response and thanking you in advance.

Regards

Mate i believe you should seek some professional advice. Something uncalled for may let you in deep waters. However, i have read couple of threads on the same forum wherein ppl have shared that CIC took extra time for so called verification on their respective applications.

God willing, will be landing in Toronto on 27th November. I have a question to ask to my beloved forum members who have already landed. There is a requirement to make a list of all things that we are getting into Canada along with us and also the list of items that we will be getting at a later date. I want to know if we need to make the list of each and everything that is in our suite cases. Eg. Clothes, shoes, food stuff, etc or only valuable items should be listed such as jewellery and money. Seniors please advise as I am confused.
