Just idle curiosity at this moment but where exactly do you have to 'land'? Are there specific ports of entry or can I go through the same small one i usually go through ( in a small border town in Vermont).

You may land at any POE - they may not process PRs every day, but they will have the computer systems and forms necessary to complete your landing. If you are landing in Quebec, you will need to provide a CSQ or demonstrate that you are traveling onwards.

I would suggest doing it during the day - you have a better chance of getting someone familiar with the process and if not, they'll be able to reach someone who is familiar with the process on the telephone.

Good luck!

You should land at a border crossing that offers a full range of immigration services. Some of the really small ones don't and others have limited hours. You can see the list of CBSA border posts with immigration services at http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/contact/listing/indexpages/indextype38-e.html

If you are also exporting/importing a car, the list of options shrinks to those ports where the US offers export services.

Good luck :)

Thanks all. This process is so much easier with you guys around. I was so nervous at the beginning but now it seems more possible. I feel so at home in Canada ( not alll because my love is there :P ;D) It's a great country and I already feel welcome.

That's really wonderful to hear :). Pass it forward.
