Hi my fellow Landed Naija, we need a decent 2BR / 3BR apartment for rent. I prefer a good location that's very close to Elementary School, Bust Stop, Shopping Mall, etc in Scarborough Area of Toronto. A low-rise will be preferable, and that is inclusive of hydro, onsite-laundry, electricity. I can get my own cable + Internet. If you know a good and reputable Agent/Realtor you may equally give me the contact. Thanks and God bless.

Where do you intend to land?

This represents my first post to this great forum. I must say there are lot of useful info posted here.

I was browing through the web to find out banks in canada and I came across RBC (royal bank of canada). From there website it appears that one can open an account with them prior to landing.

RBC is one of the major banks in Canada. They offer credit cards to new immigrants without checking your credit history because you don't have any yet in Canada. This helps you to start building your credit worthiness. Secondly, they offer free banking for 6 months (about $90 savings). Scotia bank is also offering credit cards to new immigrants.

I am not aware if you can open account with RBC before landing. If I may ask, why in a rush to open bank account prior to landing? You can easily do that immediately you land.

Please know that banking is not free in Canada. Banks (including RBC) charge up to $15 per month depending on the service you want. However, some free bank accounts are also available. There is a free unlimited chequeing account with CIBC online account. CIBC is also a major bank in Canada. The only difference is that you do your transactions using ATM, Online, Telephone and very few banking centres. At least, you can make unlimited transactions without any charge.

Best wishes.

Thanks Mum, hope you doing good ?
