@ Chelley whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa 212????? no sah cheapest I have ever paid was this summer AC about 4bills each, so me and 3 of my kids cost 1600.00 mash...PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE anyone see a sale get at me a.s.a.p..for feb 2011..true work and kids i can go again for 2010, was there febuary and march and july august so I need to kool it likkle..

So yea, I fly out of pearson, direct to mbj, looking for flights in Feb, but if i find some incredible sale, might touch in for a few days hehehehehe...

hehe that 212 was cheating because it was to one way to Ottawa (for 4 taxes in) and i never used the flight, but it was CHEAP! had to show return tickets when we went down and i just grabbed the cheapest i could find since we were staying at least 6m, but no guarentee when we were leaving for sure... we were waiting out CIC, but they finished before the kids school...

I'll keep my eyes open... west jet's sale is over, but charters will still get some bit lower... those times you travel are the pricier ones unfortunately...

Charlie... I HATE delta!!!! they got me stuck in ATL for some 18 hours :( for no good reason at that.... just slow a$$

Chelley - I can see why! I was just looking at Delta flights to Pearson, and they had some incredible layovers starting at 14 hours. :o

Normally I don't mind Delta because no matter which likkle corner of the US I find myself going to, they fly there, like when I went to visit friends in some lost corner of Mississippi (seriously, yuh tink Jamaica have "country" places?! Yuh nuh see country until you go rural southern US!)

When I find myself stuck in Atlanta on layover though, my grandmother lives 15 minutes from the airport, and she still cook like a real Jamaican, so I always end up at her house for lunch or dinner. I guess if I ever was there for 18 hours I would sleep over with her. Hmmm...suddenly I am thinking I might do that when this whole immigration process is winding up...stay over at Grandma's on my way to be with hubby! ;D

Chelley, you just give me idea! :P

Grannies cooking is always best :)

I know delta goes everywhere thru atl... There's a saying that if you die in the south they'll route you thru atl... I lived in atl for a a few years actually, my daughter was born there... And my ex is still there (which is a good reason I dislike it) my stopover was only supposed to be 2 hours but we were late getting out.. Had no gates ready when we landed and got stuck in immigration behind a huge flight from Africa... Missed my flight and the next available... They had no seats on the next 3 for me, I didn't get out until midday the next day... Never again I'm telling ya!

Dang...never had anything like that happen to me, I would say the same thing in your shoes! I love the airport though, never had any hassles with Immigration or flights except for my last one, some bad weather delayed flights the night before so my early morning flight into ATL was half-hour late landing, so I had to run like mi mad to make it to the gate to catch the flight to Jamaica, hahaha!

hello everyone!!! I hope you are all doing well

welcome aba! you're definitely in the right place....welcome to the waiting game lol

lol @ canuck!! good one!!!

I'm flying down to JA this friday and coming back Oct 31...flying Westjet and the flight was $535. I prefer to fly straight there, I'm afraid to do a layover. We are staying 2 nights at a rooming house where hubby's aunt works then 7 days at an all inclusive. A few of my cousins and a couple of friends are meeting at the AI....can't wait!! I'm missing hubby something fierce!!!

Still no AOR for hubby. Their website says if you haven't received an AOR within 8 weeks of us receiving the file, let us know. I got tired of waiting and remembered what lcw said about making noise lol. So I sent KG an email the beginning of Sept and no reply (big surprise). Sent another beginning of Oct, no reply. Sent an email to my MP who replied to me within an hour saying they have put in an inquiry and will let me know once they hear back...that was last Wed. I followed up with the MP today and they haven't heard back yet. KG probably has no idea where hubby's file even is lol So it goes.....

Hey everyone. I have a important question. Hubby just called freaken some friend gone tell him he has to pay to leave Jamaica tomorrow. A departure fee of some sort. Does anyone know of this?

We are beside our selves with excitement. I feel like I could throw up..lol and him well lets just say the bathroom is his best friend..lol.
I for sure will update with how arrivals went ummm maybe Thrusday as we will be somewhat busy busy...hehehe :-* :P

Hmmm.... No updates so far ???
Hoping to see some more good news from tomorrow.
its been a good month so far. fingers crossed it will get even better with some more Folks being reunited with their loved ones for Xmas
My little update is Mom is still pain free for the most part, so we still thank God for that.

Glo, : I noticed your question, and happen to know that Indeed there is a departure Tax, Sadly the government decided to increase it last year to about $20us dollars if I'm remembering correctly. However what you will find is that the cost would have already been included in most airline tickets. with the exception of a few chartered airlines who may ask you to pay up front, at the airport. but 9 out of 10 people will find that this cost has already been included in their tickets. so I dont think he would have to pay anything upfront, But just check the ticket to be double and triple sure this way you'll have no surprises. or call the airline to breakdown the makeup of Hubby's ticket for you.
if you cant get through to them at such short notice, then for peace of mind you may want to advise hubby to have the $20 us or equivalent of the $20us just in case.
But I doubt he'll have to use it

P.s so far I only know one person who's not had it included in their ticket.
All the best with the homecoming.

Hope this Helps

Godbless

Pardon my Manners Welcome to the Forum Aba and anyone else I may have missed. :)

Thanks Godbless. I did call westjet and the travel agent and they both said no they didn't so. Always last minute things ::)

@ Chukie yes my girl we travel nuff,I am origially from JA, so we av nuff fam, plus I we have a family home there where we stay. I am not into d layover/connection ting, my house is in St. James so I always go direct to Mobay....I go between west jet and ac...whomever is cheaper but AC had wayyy better in flight entertainment for my hype 5 yr old...So far I havent travelled the charters because i usually go 3-4 weeks or longer and dem luggage weight small...but since we r gonna file next yr mi waa drop in a couple trips b4 we do..even tho i have lots in 4 yrs..right now im seeing 416.00-535.00 average for when im travelling, just gotta catch it.

@ the departure tax thing, most all tickets av that included in the total price...so that is foolinesh. I guess it between 1600.00-2000.00 JMD but west jet always includes it as does AC so it strange they didnt!

@ Charlie, no Air Jam now does some foolish layover in kgn for some 8 hours the fly 20 mins to mobay lol...it not worth it..direct so much simpler...air jam hasnt flown direct to mobay in years, in 2007 i was still buying air jam tickets but the flight was operated by air can..but now they dont even do that..

air canada has a seat sale on now for november to early december for 149$ each way direct to mo bay
