Paula, did your husband receive his passport back yet?? Just wondering how long the process is once they request it.

Thanks

I've heard it can take up to 8 weeks.

Oh wow.. when my step dad received his 4 years ago it only took just over a week. Things sure have changed!! His process also only took 8 months and a lady I know who did her husbands that same year only took 6 months.

Wish we all had those times!

OH brother don't tell me that. I used an immigration lawyer to help me fill out the paperwork because I was feeling overwhelmed by all the documents...
The lawyer has the original FBI report and said they are waiting until we get asked for it.

I send the copy in because I DON'T WANT TO WAIT - don't mean to yell HA! :P :P

I am just waiting

If they need the original, send it in before they ask for it. If they have to ask for it, it will go back into the ""bring forward" pile and they wont look at your file again for 60 days, whether they know they have received it or not.
This is information that I received from my MP, so be proactive. The 3.5 months waiting for it to even be looked at doesnt surprise me at all. They are so slow, and love to waste people's time. I swear its out of spite.

Big up everyone on a Wednesday afternoon. I'd like to know what all your thoughts on me holding off sending in my application while I wait for 1 more document. I'm waiting for hubby to send me a notarized affidavit related to his son not being made available for medical evaluation. I have everything else, the fee has been paid and DHL is playing. What are your thoughts if I send it off tomorrow and send the affidavit once I get it from him which should be any time now.

They're evaluating me first anyway so I don't know. Feedback would be great :)

I would wait - like shortyp2000 was saying to me earlier - if you are missing something you will be put in a holding pattern

Well in your case, you haven't yet applied, so its a bit different. You have months before they will even transfer then look at your file so you can do it either way as long as you send in the document soon.
But it is recommended you send everything in together. I didnt do it that way. I sent in most of my itsms then added later.
For canadianinlove, they may be asking anyday for the requested item so she doesnt really have that time to spare. Trust me its so frustrating knowing that they asked for some document and they acknowledge they received it and still wait 60 days to look at it.

Wow that's pretty straight up and blunt. I think if we are paying for this service we should be getting more properly served than that!
If we bought a $7 meal at Burger king they would take better care of serving us than CIC does.
We should be allowed to get the answers we deserve and email as much as we need to. If they actually gave answers they wouldn't be questioned so much.
