Our package got to pos dec 8th and it is 3 weeks today. It is very frustrating!! Happy that we are nearing the end but this waiting feels so unfair for us. I had high hopes he would be here for Christmas but that didn't happen. I am actually going down there tomorrow so we can spend NYE together. Really really really hoping and praying that we get the pp back before I need to come home so he can come HOME with me. Good luck to all that are waiting.
Have lots of fun....and hopefully hubby gets his pp back before you have to leave!!

On another note....my hubby received his PR card today. They stared processing it on December 3rd and was completed on the 21st.

Thanks for the advice. I am leaving tonight to visit him in Jamaica for two weeks. Is it best to start the paperwork now for the marriage in march? We are getting married in his church. I am glad i have someone to talk to. Alot of people dont understand my decisions.
Not everyone can go all in for love, many people don't like to take risk. You need to trust you and your partner and be sure that this is what you want and need, after that you don't mind what people say. Sometimes it is pure jealousy, they wish they could be able to do the same :p

Have a safe trip to JA THOR (May Odin be with you LOL!!!!). Seriously, you'll be with your man for New Year's and travel back home with him at the end of your stay. It doesn't have to be the last day like us though :p 2014 was a blessed year for my husband and I, I wish you the same with your hubby for the coming year. Cheers to 2015!!!!

So I have a SUPER weird question that was asked of me....

"If a foreigner has a baby in Canada, are they automatically made Canadian?"

My answer (And I told them I would check here) was that the BABY is Canadian, but it doesn't affect either parent and they still need to apply to be PR like everyone else.

Then they asked if it made the PR process any easier. I don't think it does, but could someone maybe shed some light on this?

Hey Nini, you are right, only the baby is Canadian. The parents are foreigners and need to apply for PR as everyone else.

Good afternoon! Married in Montego Bay Dec 3 and I am working on my husbands paperwork. Hope I can find some advice here! I spoke to a lawyer and am not sure if I want to proceed there or do the documents myself. Anyone from London Ontario area with any ideas of local assistance?

The lawyer seemed to think the "Brides copy" of the marriage license was sufficient ( the one we received at the wedding from the minister) This has me hesitant.

Lawyer also printed me off documents to fill in and get my husband to sign ( love the courier for that), including get the criminal; check done immediately and his medical ( and his sons)

Any great resources there other than the immigration site? Anyone use a lawyer or do there own and have words of advice , advantages etc??

Thanks
Carol

Hi and welcome!!! Congrats on your wedding. I'm my opinion I wouldn't use a lawyer. All they do is take your money and don't speed up the process. You can do all the papers on your own and this forum is great for finding answers to questions you my have. Save your money....this process costs so much as it is.

Thanks, as I was working on his paperwork ( to send to him to sign) it seemed to me I was doing everything anyways and that it would be better for me to do it all online. I will try to sift through all the responses on here to come up with answers....

Lucky I read quickly..lol

Has anyone had issues with them not believing in the reality at immigration? any suggestions? the lawyer did say it could be difficult because its Jamaica. Ive met most of his family but not mom or son ( I talked to mom) lots of pictures of brothers and cousins and my friend and daughter there too. But there is an age difference and the fact I have not met his son makes me think that can set off red flags. The mom hasn't allowed it, not unlike here sometimes.

Can I ask why you need to redo the paper work again? You could have just contacted CIV and switched to an Outland application and used the same one. It would have saved time
