I am not an expert on TRV's at all but I am pretty sure anyone can apply for a TRV but from what others have said, you have to make sure you have ties to your country before they will approve it. By that I mean, a job to come back to, a home, money in the bank etc....

Does anyone know of a non-dependant child getting a TRV? (Example.. Niece or nephew)

They CAN get a TRV but it would have to be on their own merits. The only thing you could actually do for them is provide them with an invitation letter. all else must be proven by them. i.e. a job letter, clearly stating return date, enough money in the bank to show that they can cover their expenses for the trip, tiltles to cars, homes, busniess .. what not, ... anything to convince the High commission that they intend to return home becasue that's where their life is .....

Thanks Chickie, but I guess what I really wanted to know is... What are the chances for a child to get a visitor visa. I just don't know anyone who has known a child alone to get it, if they do they are usually coming with a family member.

The child can get one only if the parents are eligible for one. They can't really access the child's ties to the country and so they do it depending on the parent. When I applied for one back in days in Ja.. They denied me on the basis that my mom does not meet the eligiblity criteria.

I've heard of it only in instances where one/both parents already had a TRV

Thanks His_Wife.. We did provide all of her moms info, back statement, land papers, a school letter when she's expected back after X-mas holidays, our job letters, an invitation letter,a letter from both her parents.. I guess We'll just wait and see.

Oh sorry....i wasn't thinking of a child when I answered you and as you see, i said i don't know much about TRV, i am glad His_wife was able to help answer some of your questions though.

hello everyone,welcome newbies... have not been on here in a while...been so busy...well not anymore.I resigned so got lots more time on my hand...hurricane Sandy wasn't too bad...and indeed she took great news for me..because two days after she came i got my visa...me and my baby girl will be joining hubby in 8 day...for those persons still waiting..cheer up it will be sooner than later..and remember God answers prayers. take care talk to all soon.
