aww that sucks anada! is there any way your hubby can support you while you're there? maybe he can help you get an under the table type job?

we could work to support who needs supporting down there...but not to pay my rent up here and then some

i was one of the lucky ones who spent my wait with my husband on the island...

we actually stayed a few months after we got the visa so the kids could finish up their school term :)

i wouldn't have done it any other way :)

ok lets look into what nae-nae just said...

I work in a unionized position for the government so I clearly know what my rights are to a leave of absence...

look into these options:

temporary leave of absence
stress leave (dr.s note?)

at least with one of these options you would have a job to come back to

yes jamgirl is right....stress leave? based on what you've already said here, I'm sure you can convince your doctor to give you a note for that

where there's a will....there's a way!

you may have to give up your home here and some other things so you have no bills to pay...or have someone else take it over for you while you are away and pay the rent/bills

check into if you are allowed to be out of country for stress leave... i believe you might be able to...

next, you might be able to turn off certain utilities.. ie/ water and maybe energy as you wont need it in summer... also power too... clean your fridge out and no worries... that will lessen the bills down to just rent... next, look into subletting your place out, then the rent will be paid and you could move your belongings to a friend's/family's temporarily and away you go!

it's 212 days (i think) in a calendar year that you need to come in under to keep health benefits.. (i've had them cut off before when i lived out of country, not fun!) we were there for just under 7 months and no issues... i had no issues with CTC (the little i get), we just had to fill out the proper paperwork to migrate our finances together once he landed.

i put all our stuff in storage up here since the plan was to move into something bigger anyways... and my job was moving within the year as well, so i wanted to relocate closer

I should say that i was on mat leave during our stay... neither of us worked while we were there, between the EI and our combined savings we managed to buy a car, pay school fees, update the house, treat ourselves to a few weekends away and live reasonably comfortably... it was a learning experience for us both and was nice to start our life together without all the regular hassles that life can interject (especially for a couple dealing with an immigration situation).

ANADA,
NO DISRESPECT, if you choose to do this, the first thing you need to do is stop thinking with your pumpum!

Calm yourself down, and find out the reason that you want him to ever be in Canada to begin with. Is it because of the life of your kids? Is it for the benefits Canada will give? You need to find out that reason before you do something that could affect it.

Second, if there is no reason, then why think of a temporary move? Just sell it all and go!

Lastly, you are gettin yourself worked up. I have to believe that when you married this man, you were confident of a few things...

1. that you love him and he is the only one for you
2. that he loves you and you are the only one for him
3. that moving him to Canada wouldn't happen over night
4. that you both would do anything for each other, including waiting to be together forever.

you really need to refocus. It is def ok to have bad feeling days and to feel over anxious. Lawd knows we have all had them. And this forum is a great place to vent. But, you can't self destruct over this all day, every day! You are responsible for acting on your feelings and at some point you have to pick yourself up and dust yourself off and move on from the anxiety... maybe a good first step would be to talk to a doctor about anti-anxiety exercises and/or medication. If the anxiety is blocking your normal thought process then this may help to clearing your head and then you can go on stronger. It is just a thought and I am not meaning to disrespect you or insult you in any way. It is just my feeling that the level of your anxiety could affect your job/marriage/kids/life in a negative way that may be irreversible, and, well, that would be very sad my dear. Please take my words as a sign of caring and not judgement.
