Does anyone know approximately how long it takes to approve the spousal permanent residence in Kingston after its opened? On ecas it says as of November 13 that ours is in process

Hello and Welcome!!!

If your file on Ecas shows in process then they are working on your file and you can hear from them at anytime....however others on here have been "in process" for awhile and are still waiting. It is hit and miss with Kingston, they seem to work on their own time. I waited 17 months. Some on here waited longer and others less. Don't stress out about it...like I said in process is a good thing.

I read your other posts and see that you got pregant after you applied. I have been there and know how you are feeling. Well actually I was pregnant when we applied and I had our first daughter a couple weeks after Kingston got our application. I am pregnant again and thank good my hubby is here ( been here for 10 days now) and he will be able to see our second daughter born.

Welcome to the JamFam AtClarke! I am in a similar situation in that they changed my ECAS to "In Process" on November 6th, but I haven't heard anything yet. Use to be that when it went to "In Process" it meant that they had sent out a request of some sort (i.e. asking for PC, add docs, passport), but now I guess it has changed yet again. Anything to keep us on our toes, stressed and wondering. Please keep us posted on your journey. Can you provide us with a little information...when you applied, received sponsorship approval, etc.? There is a spreadsheet that shows you timelines for others. You can find it under MelJam's signature.

Just to update this....Kingston is known for putting people "in process" and not asking for anything. There have been members on here in the past ( Nev and Chickie) who had in in process for months and they didn't request anything.

HOWEVER....they have been really good lately ( wonder if they got their hands slapped) and have been requesting docs/pp with in days/couple weeks of in process.

THOR....you will hear something by the end of this week. I can feel it!!!!! Get hubby's winter gear ready because he is going to be home soon!!!!!!

Thor, this is your week for sure!!!! No doubt!!!

Sammy, how was your first week with hubby? :) Does he like the snow !!? lol

Lexi, safe flight, and good luck for the interview !! I wish you will traveling back in duo instead of solo ! ;)

The first week has been wonderful!! He start work tomorrow and it's going to be a change for him but at least he will be out there.

He LOVES the snow!!! He's like a little kid and keeps looking at it and taking pictures. Makes me smile to see him so happy....however when that first storm hits I don't think he will like it so much

Hi and welcome!
Can you advise what is your timeline? And if you see in process you should hear some news soon depending on what Kingston requested on your file...do you have to provide RCMP, ARC or new meds, PC or any documents? Give us a little more information!
Thanks ! :)

Ok so they received our package on March 5, 2014 in Mississauga. I was approved as a sponsor on April 1. We applied for a visitor's visa in October for my husband to visit here for 3 weeks in February for our daughters birth (it's the first for both of us) but it was denied. I contacted my local Member of Parliament in Canada who looked into both the denied visa and our sponsorship application. On November 6 my MP got an e-mail from Kingston saying they'd open our case within a few days. On November 10 I got a letter in thr mail saying I need to pay the RPRF so I did on November 11. In ecas it says they opened the application on November 13. They have not requested any other documents.

I hadn't realized that Nev and Chickie had gone to "In Process" and then had that horrendous wait. Ugghhh...depressing for me!!

I should have mentioned to atclarke that my file is one of those that got transferred to Port of Spain Trinadad to help KGN with the work overload. Was the letter you received from the High Commission from KGN or POS? So you applied March 2014 so looks like they are working hard! This is good news for the 2014 applicants!

Sammy I really really hope that you are right. Figure that I will need to hear something by end of this week if I want him here by second week of December so he can attend some Holiday functions with me. Otherwise first week of December for him to be home by Christmas. If I do not hear anything by December 8th I will need to book a flight down there for after Christmas :-[ I was out shopping this weekend and picked him up some long thermal underpants, flannel pjs, hoodies and a winter puffy vest (he wants to pick out his own coat and boots).

Mel don't be woried or traumatized about this bc honestly I would rather get the "send in these docs" and then have seen In Process rather than see the In Process and then ZILCH...worst 11 days (and counting) so far in this process.

I know it definitely had something to do with my Member of Parliament and me complaining to them that its very harsh they won't allow my husband to come visit to see his child be born. This wait and not knowing much is really stressing me out!.... Would you happen to know how I can update my husbands contact e-mail for communication with the Kingston office?

LOL.....the longest wait is when you see Decsion Made and you are waiting for that passport to be returned.

You can email kingston with the new information however....it takes them months to update if they do it at all. Mrs Davis on here updated her's and nothing has happened

You can also call the CIC call centre in Mississauga to update it as well.

Don't be traumatized at all hun. She could be in process because they requested the RPRF and that could be the only reason. Has happened on here before. Check the spread sheet and you will see that many has gotten through in 8 months however that hasn't happened at in a long time because kingston SLACKED off!!!

I know what it is like seeing people get through or even hear anything and they applied after you. IT SUCKS but it happens. Chin up hun...you will hear something soon...XOXOXO
