Overview of dates:

February 20/13: Application sent in
March 22/13: Sponsorship Approval
February 14/14: In Process
March 16/14: Passport Request
April 25/14: Passport with Visa Returned
June 6/14: Landed in Toronto
June 7/14: Arrived in Vancouver

Landing Story:

I arrived in Jamaica on May 29 and we had a wonderful week before we had to head home. We visited family, took care of a few last minute things and had time to relax!
We flew from Montego Bay and check-in, customs and security went very smooth. Hubby loved the escalator after we went through security and was amazed with all of the shops and restaurants.
Once on the flight, hubby loved the livemap and seeing where we were. He asked lots of questions about flying and the flight went very fast with all of his questions!
We landed in Toronto and once we went through customs, I was able to go with him to Immigration. There were only a few agents working and several people in front of us so we had to wait about 30 min. The agent only asked a couple of questions and had him sign and initial the Confirmation of Permanent Residency (COPR). The agent informed him that we could apply for his SIN but decided to wait until we were home. There is an information area for new immigrants and hubby picked up some brochures and information. We had documented all of his belongings with the approximate value and the cash he had with him but he was not required to provide that information. We picked up our luggage, walked outside and hubby turned to me and said “it is an amazing feeling when all your dreams come true'.
We had a 7am flight to Vancouver the next day. He was shocked that the flight to Vancouver was longer than the flight from Jamaica to Toronto and started to realize how big Canada is.
Hubby loves Canada and thinks it is so beautiful! He asks lots of questions and it is fun to see his reactions to life here! He also can't believe how light it is outside at 9pm and how it can be sunny but the sun doesn't warm him up! The temperature hasn't been that warm the last couple days and he says it feels like someone is blowing the air-conditioning outside.
He started work yesterday and we are starting to get settled into a routine. It is amazing to wake up beside him every morning and do simple things like groceries or snuggle on the couch to watch a movie. Sometimes I have to remind myself that this is real life and not all a dream!

I can't thank you all enough for your love, support, encouragement during this process! You are all amazing and not sure how I would have been able to get through this without all of you!

Beautiful landing story GG......my hubby still after almost 3 months looks at his watch and is like damn, its already 9:30, how is it still light out!

real lovely story congrats to you my dear! every time i read these landing stories my eyes get fill with tears. having the experience of living there going to star bucks. timhortons, country time, the kegs red lobster going to the movie chilling with friends going school every thing. and not having that any more makes it so hard to deal with. ive only live in canada other than jamaica and its a experience i would want everybody to have,

here playing the waiting game is the worst game to play in my life and not good on playing that game at all. my husband is even worst than me were waiting is concern. knowing hes depress and knowing we use to spend time together at his place makes him sick at time. knowing there is no me to surprise visit him any more, the memories of being there and back here some times i wish i could loose those memories

i dream about the day i return home and i know it will be super, i know alot of us dream of that day too i know it will come for us we just have try and find things to occupy the mind space so we dont sit and drown in depression. immigration can only hold out for so long but we will be the victorious ones at the end of this game. i tell myself this all the time that ''tough times dont last tough people do'' thats my motivation speech and it does help when the pressures of life gets to me

Not sure exactly where your location is, but those words sound almost exact as what we heard from our MP!!!
Sorry you feel like giving up, we do most times too, but everything happens in its own time. keep faith! <3

I live in Edmonton near the university area. Very frustrating!!!

The assistant to the MP used this one: " I ASSURE you there is no possible way that people are getting through on spousal sponsorship from KGN Jamaica sooner than the 25 months."

UUURRRGG!

Hence the booking of the flight to go see my love!

Trying to stay sane! lol..

Love the landing stories! The video/ slideshow made me cry!!!

Ahhhhhhh so much news. I'm so sorry for those who have gone on vacay and had to come home. happy for those with good news and passports back!! It will end as I am finally experiencing.

I've been MIA as I got injured working and have had to do physio stuff and go with the hubby to get him situated with a resume and figuring out getting his driver's license here and all that. I did make something to share with you guys.

I did not tell any friends exactly when he was coming and most people had NO idea he was coming at all so we could surprise them. I made a slideshow while gibbled in bed. hope you enjoy. http://1drv.ms/1lua80P

The best will be when YOUR hubby comes home to you sooner than 25 months and you can write to them again and copy everyone and their sister and tell them about how WRONG they are!!! KMT >:( :-*

UGH, Sh, Sh & Baby Sh -- I got the same response from my MPs assistant...then she said "but...give me his information anyway and I can look". In my response I was like please don't just look at ECAS because I check them all the time...there is no change. If you are going to look into anything I would appreciate you emailing questions to KGN asking if I have been assigned a VO and/or if the file is actually being worked on.

That might have been kinda harsh, but I'm annoyed. My poor hubby is getting discouraged...we are both trying to be positive but this "new reality" is a punch in the gut.

Patience is a virtue Mrs. P! Have you ordered your notes yet? If not, please order them and I will help you decipher if you want me to. Yesterday was our "bring forward date" or "due date" as per notes that we received and sure enough my file was updated online. I think I had a mini heart attack. lol

Don't be discouraged PLEASE! AS a few others on here used to say "they can't keep your file forever" and you WILL get through this.

BIG love going out to everyone... :-* :-* :-* :-*
