Good evening everyone,

I have been searching this site for any information on sponsoring dependent children but haven't found anything. My husband and I just submitted an application for my 6 year old step daughter and was just wondering if anyone has had any experience with that or knows what the processing times are like now for Kingston. I have heard it goes faster than spousal sponsorship but it seems to be grouped together in the family sponsorship processing time which is 22 months if I am reading that right??

Hi Randomcitizen and welcome to the forum;

We have one other member with a similar case; hopefully she is lurking and will share her experience.

But you are correct it is still under the family class sponsorship and in previous years dependent children did get priority at the Kingston office but so far based on what you will read on the forum; there seems to be a major back log.

I pray your case be processed soon; as your child is very young.

If you are interested you could share your timeline and my self or chickie72 can add you to a spreadsheet that we manage processing timelines on. The link to the spreadsheet is found under either one of our signatures.

All the best :)

Good Morning JamFam;

I know we are keeping the positive vibes because can't let Kingston take that away from us; Jamaicans are known to be happy people despite any hardship we may go through; and whether you are Jamaican by birth or by wife/hubby's birth then that happiness and no worries mentality will stick with you.

Nev; make that money girl but missing you; Chickie you are under manners with your trainee; missing you too.

Kingston who God bless; no man curse. So take your time but only salvation last forever.

Bless up and enjoy your day Fam.

Good morning!!!!!

Well I have finally broke down and called my MP office over the missing meds. They are now in the process of contacting Kingston and CIC to find them. I haven't heard anything in over 3 weeks and as usual all emails have gone unanswered. The MP office asked when I applied and some other things. I then explained about some personal family things that have happened this past year and also about the baby...as they heard her. I said this process is hard enough but really hard when your all of a sudden a single parent because your spouse isn't here. They think the wait times are bull crap and that no one should have to wait this long.

I will let you know what happen

As for the rest if you....Kingston wake up!!! Let's clear up these 2012 applications. Make some calls. Send these spouses home!!!

Hello Sammy,

Maybe you mentioned it before... but could you remind us of how you found out that the medical exam results were missing

Sure.....checked my Ecas and it hasn't shown medicals received. So I emailed Kingston and they advised me that they can't find them. So I had to call the doctor and CIC here only to be told that Kingston needs to find them. And now of coure it been 3 week since myself or my husband have heard from them.

Thank you so much kadi27!
Our sponsorship package arrived this morning in Mississauga so we are just starting our process today so I would love to be added to the spreadsheet and am very interested in hearing from other members in a similar situation. I went through this process sponsoring my husband back in 2010 so remember the struggle all too well that you all are going through and my thoughts are with all of you hoping for any kind of update that brings you one step closer to your loved one! :-*

Hhhhmmm.... this makes me wonder :-\, because mine doesn't show "Medical Recieved"... only says ..."Application recieved" even though I applied Jan 2013... file transfer to Kgn Feb 2013

Asking all 2012, and early 2013 applicants does your Ecas say "Medical Recieved". ?

Also when on the CIC website I could only access my Ecas using "Immigration file" number & hubby's info (d.o.b...) is this normal, what is the UCI# for?

Welcome Randomcitizen, :D

I was just wondering what it was like when you sponsored your hubby i.e how long did it take, was there an interview etc?... I also assume that in his sponsorship process you had included the children?... that is what they recomend if you would like to sponsor children at a later time.

I am interested to know about the sponsorship of children part.... because I will be doing that in a few years after hubby arrives and is "settled in"

Mine also doesn't say medicals received. I'm a little concerned to be honest. Once my notes come in, I will see what they say. You and I may be in the same boat Sammy!!!

So cute!!!

I too applied in May of 2013 , sent to Kingston July. Mine does not say med received even though we sent it with app. Emailed twice - no response. I hoped as well to see something on my notes but planned to take others advice and order them Dec/Jan
