Anxious u dont see anything at all ..... the body is all covered up in a pyre. All you see if fire and when it cools down u only see the ash ... you could barely even tell that a person was burned.

good morning everyone!

confused - sorry about the loss of your grandmother's brother (isn't that your great uncle?)

lol yeah you are going to hell :o

Just sound so gruesome... burn it in front of everyone....

lol .. I know it sounds scary and all that but u barely even recognize anything .. they have a way in which they do it ....

OMG, since my topic is about funerals.... I have noticed that over here when there is a funeral for mainly Christians it becomes a family reunion with big drinking and cooking up, etc. There is more drinking then mourning at the burial site. Does this happen back home for you guys too? You see the family by the bus loads at the graveyard with their ice pitchers filled with everything alcohol.

Ok, you know back home people burn garbage or old wood or paper?

Well, picture burning a heap of wood when it's set in full blaze .... u only see the orange haze coming off the burning and the breakdown of the woods' biomass which would be the black smoke in the orange haze.

confusednscared - It's called "Set-Up" or 9 Night.

People come mainly for the booze and the food. It's tradition but it's a crass tradition. It used to be about remembering the dead and celebrating memories and giving condolences over food and drink - like a wake. Now it's like a party with bands and a whole lot of hoop-la. God forbid you run out of food or drink at these things. Lawd a' mercy.

but do they do it on the funeral day thoo?

I believe the funeral is done at the end of the 9 Night.

Can we lighten up the topic now though?? :D

LOL ... sorry you guys .... I just had to share what was happening today and in the next few days .... soo many things right now ...

Have you guys seen that incident in Guatemala with the hole in the earth where the industrial building caved in about 100 feet?

How about the BP well? Has anyone heard any updates on that?

confused - based on my experience - funerals here in Canadaare morbid and sad. We do a little get together after the funeral which we call a "Wake". There is food and beverages. In my experience, there is no alcohol. We usually have a "viewing" at a funeral home which goes for 3 days and a funeral the day following. This gives friends and family a chance to come and view the body to say their good byes. People send flowers to the funeral home. Then the body is either cremated or burried at a cemetary depending on the family's wishes (or the deceased's request)

Good Afternoon All!

Confused- sorry about to hear about the loss in your family

Hi Nae-Nae, HF, Anxious! :) Hope your day is going well!

Let's change the pace a little! ;)

Today is Thursday already, I find that the days are going so fast, just think about it, the majority of reunions will happen before this year is over!!! YEAH!!!

Continue to pray for updates!

Blessings!
