Hello. I am new here! I am just trying to figure out how this forum works. I have been reading the posts here for a few weeks and it seems like a great support for all of us waiting for our spouses!! My husband is from Jamaica, and I am from Alberta. We are putting the finishing touches on our application now! You all seem like a wealth of information and a great support. Nice to meet everyone!

Welcome longdistanceloves! :D

Just a quick question... how did everyone get all the application signed, originals mailed... etc. we are filling out forms together online and then i'm going to email them to my husband, where he'll print them off, sign them, and then he will send it all back to me via snailmail so i can sign everything and send it from here. is this what most of you are doing or is there a better way?

Oh thanks for the welcome! I will be posting my questions soon when I can think of them all! :)

I prepared the application, both sides including the sponsor's section. However, my husband re-did all the sponsor's forms (I filled in his answers after asking him the questions) himself, except for the ones that required both of our signatures (agreement/undertaking and use of representative). When I was done preparing the application, I sent it along with the proofs to my husband, he re-did his forms as I said, and then sent it off to CPC-M.

You have to do it the way that it works best for you as a couple. In most cases, it is us wives who end up doing the application because we have more attention to detail. Sorry, guys, you know it's true. Men see the "big picture", most of them. :P

Charlie dear, you are forgetting one detail lol... nowadays, you can fill out your forms online lol... Back when we did our apps, Kristy, there was no "online" forms lol... we old skool lol

I did the application myself but got all the pertinant information from hubs while on a visit, Once I completed the app my daughter went for a quick vacay, she got him to sign where needed and, it was done! :)
ugh, Once you get going, it gets easier...and you will be so glad when it's done! would have been nice to do an online app!

Cold here too Charlie, tomatos are done, froze overnight :(

Aw suki, that sucks. Homegrown tomatoes are the bomb.

Jamgirl, yeah they make it easier with savable forms nowadays at least! I still would print mine and do the draft first though, before filling in the ones I would save. I'm just that picky when it comes to filling out forms, always have been. When I was doing GCT returns in Jamaica for clients who filed and paid online, I would save a hard copy for my internal files. Everyone used to ask why I bothered, I said because filing cabinets don't crash, unlike Jamaica Tax Online! ;)

Congrats again!

Wishing everyone a great weekend!

I tried to log on and the Ecas appears to be down. The DOB section is blank >:(

This is so frustrating. Has anyone else experienced this today?

Hi ladies (and gents) of the Kingston thread!

I guess I sorta belong here because my hubster is half Jamaican!! :D He's Cuban but his father immigrated to Cuba from Jamaica when he was younger. Hubby and I have actually discussed going to JA for a week in March of 2013 (if this whole mess isnt done with by then), because he would be able to get a visa (and a JA passport) because of his father. As much as i LOVE cuba, i have been going nowhere else for over 3 years now... lol

I've been to Jamaica for a day at a time about 3 or 4 times from Cruises but never stayed there a whole week , any suggestions of hotels or areas? I've always gone to Ocho Rios and done Dunn's River falls which was AMAZING! anyways just wanted to say hi and I hope that I half fit in here... lol or maybe just a quarter since its my hubs who's half jamaican...

Just trying to fill up time because I. CANT. TAKE. IT. ANYMORRREEEE.

Welcome Avana! Stick and stay! I'm not from Jamaica but the others can definitely give you some advice about where to stay. I know waiting can be a pain but we have a ball in here. It definitely helps with the wait!

Oh... I think a few of them went to Jamaica this weekend so if you don't get an answer today, make sure and check back.

Thanks for the warm welcome Blondie! I was supposed to be seeing my man this weekend too but the flights didnt work out :( now hoping to surprise him and be his bday present next weekend instead!

Where are you from?
