Just received IEC invite, but with EE FSW now underway, is it a good idea/clash?

Hey all,

I applied for EE FSW a few months ago, AOR 25 Jan. My consultant also put me in for the IEC Pool (International Experience Canada) as this would give me a better chance to get to Canada quicker, and at the time we did not know how long the PR process would take, could take 3 months, could take 8, could take more...

But guess what. I just got the invite for IEC through. I have 8 days to submit my application.
Question is, should I do it now.

I am 3 months (since AOR) into the PR application via EE FSW, and the IEC work permit, which would give me 1-2 years work permit, would take 8 weeks to complete according to CIC.

Would it clash, and would it be worth doing now?

What are your thoughts? I am actually needing to be in Canada by August, so this could be a good thing...

No clash - I would do it. The cost is relatively low and you have a back-up way to get to Canada in case anything delays your PR application. IEC were being turned around in 2 weeks last year so it might come through even quicker, you don't have to activate it if your PR comes through in the meantime.

Yep I think I will do it. Thanks for the reply.

Most are saying its fine, and only a few people think it might affect EE or complicate it. But its all guesses atm. So if anyone else has had experience with this, views are welcome. But I think I will do it, the system should not allow me to do it if it will clash right?

The CIC website is saying 8 weeks, but my consultant and other posts have said it can take 2 weeks. I mean wow, if thats true, awesome.

Should have probably prefaced all of my reply with 'I had my third IEC approved while waiting for PR'!

No conflict at all.

3rd IEC? I thought you could only do it once?

And hey, just noticed we have same AOR date and you're also going BC. We should meet up if all goes well! :) I see you you already have PPR

Australians were able to get back to back IEC permits up until 31 until they changed it last year.

Ya, already in BC - will shout you an arrival beer if you are anywhere nearby!
