My attorney just sent me an email stating that he has looked up the processing times and that I am looking at September before getting approved.
I just paid my RPRF on the 20th. From everything I've heard, I'm not looking at that long. He originally told me 3 months. Now he's saying September. What gives?! I took my medicals June 19th of 2012. From what I've heard, if I don't land by June 18th, I'm going to have to retake my medicals, and that will push us behind again. :(

So what now? How long am I REALLY looking at?
*sigh*
This process is making me lose my mind.

It's hard to say; your lawyer is no better informed than the rest of us. But paying your RPRF fees later as you did can delay processing.

As frankinto said, it is impossible to say. The CIC website states that 80% of applications are approved within 12-13 months. However, if you compare your time frame to others who applied around the same time as you (the Ottawa spreadsheet is in my signature and other applicants are keeping touch here http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/cppottawa-t118769.1110.html ), you will see how Ottawa applicants are progressing. I also believe that attorney's like to give time estimates that are very conservative.. that way if it takes that long you are not disappointed in them, and if it comes sooner, then they take credit for getting you a "speedier" approval.

As for your medical, the VO has the ability to extend your medicals for up to one year, and if that is the only hold up to your file, they will usually do that. It is entirely up to them, but there's a good chance you won't have to redo your medical.

And the good news is, that although it's possible, it's unlikely you will be waiting until September.

Good luck!

My lawyer told me I'd have to wait a lot longer but she was wrong. I found that she didn't know much more than me. I wouldn't worry so much. I got more useful info from this forum than my lawyer

my 2 cents:

after winning my appeal in August, my Imm consultants told me it would now be fast tracked throguh Ottawa and my partner would be with me in about 2 -3 months. Well, its now close to 7 months and apparantly the file is sitting in Otttawa awaiting a case worker to process. My Mp tells me it could take another year....that will make it 5 years for me.

sit back and try to enjoy the ride ! :-X
