I apologize, I meant year. If i do pay up my entire $12200 first year fees ( two semesters ) which is around 6.08 lacs, the remaining expenses such as my survival expenses, were I to take a loan for that, would it be still classified as an educational loan?

You are taking loan against FD or security or an education loan?

If you are paying full first year fee then you can get a loan without security upto Rs. 7.5 lacs which will be quicker than an education loan, also you can go for loan against FD which will be even faster.

Good question. What if I opened a FD now for say 6 lacs and then took a loan against it?

Its absolutely okay, many people do that. But you will have to check with the bank that at what margin will they give the loan, some offer it at 10% and others at 20%. That is if you have an FD of Rs. 6 lacs with a margin of 10% you will get a loan of Rs. 5 lacs.

Okay. I guess its time to pack my bags and fly back to Delhi to start the work. Thanks for your help, seriously i mean it. You showed me the right direction to proceed with this business.

Keep in mind that living and traveling can come up to CAD $10,000 to $11,000 for one year so take the loan accordingly.

Will do. Thanks. Gave you +1 rating, thought of giving more as just one didn't seem sufficient compared to help you gave but I think the forum allows only one per week.

Not a problem. You are well on time and so you can smoothly go through all the processes and apply in the first week of Feb '12 itself. By then status of SPP would be clear as well.

Oh one thing more, how am I convince the VO that I intend to return after my studies?

There is no solid proof on how they tend to make out our intentions but for an assumption and based on many cases we can say usually they tend to extract this from the financial ability and family information form. Under Generic in addition to the other two forms reference letter can also be one such instrument.

What exactly is in the family information form? Wealth status of my family? Family members who are employed?

Wealth-No, About members-Yes. Check here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5645E.PDF

Also you can download rest of the forms from here: http://www.vfs-canada.co.in/visaapplication.html

Can i download these forms and submit them or these are just for viewing and the actual forms will be available from the visa office?

You have to download and use these forms only.

Also my father is a retired doctor. How am I to show how I'm surviving as i have no job experience. My mum is a house-wife, my elder brother is working in delhi and my elder sister has a year to complete her Phd

Under Generic one has to submit ITRs as well, so if he has one from past 2-3 years he can do it or you can have your brother as your sponsor. Although you need not prove your survival in India. Just prove that you have funds to support yourself in Canada. Also are you indirectly trying to ask how to show them that you will return back to India after studies? Honestly its not clear how they figure out our intentions but your father is a retired doctor and your brother is working, add his ITR to it and it should be a sufficient proof. No doubt they know most of the students are going there for PR. Just have a strong profile with sufficient or more than sufficient financial strength and you shall get your visa. Infact they give out generic reasons for declining the application and not a specific one so even if one gets refusal saying one might not return back to India, there might actually be another reason behind that.
