Glad the Canadian citizenship journey is almost at the end for us now

How are things progressing for you - did you receive your Canadian passport?

Yes, finally I received my passport exactly 2 weeks ago - a little more than 2 months after applying in person at Service Canada, and a little more than 17 months after submitting the citizenship application! I knew the process would likely be slow, but really wasn't prepared for the unusually long and painful wait to get the oath invite after everything else had turned to Completed.

I have already requested for expedited oath as i have travel on Jan 15, my processing office was Niagara Falls through out and i sent the email to them along with HR letter and booked ticket for the visit. And in next 3 days, i saw that i am scheduled by MB SK office.

I am assuming that after my request, niagra falls office may have contacted them to schedule me for the oath as per first availability.

But i will be letting them know in registration time that i have an upcoming travel for which i have supporting document, Letter from HR for my business trip and the ticket.

Have you seen only normal case getting delayed from MB SK office, any observation for the people requesting for expedited certificate dispatch based on documentary proof for the visit ?

I sent an email to winnipeg office with expedite request on last Sunday (Dec 11, 2022), and i just spoke to IRCC agent over the phone, and i was informed that my expedited request has been approved and they will be sending it through Xpress post, he said note was just updated today (Dec 14, 2022) in the file.

My oath is on Dec 19, now i will see how does it go on Dec 19, and do they really tell me the same what i was informed by the call centre agent. I hope it goes smooth

We took the oath more than 18 months after submitting our application!

And considering the current trend, there is a possibility that we may receive our passport in mid-2023

Actually people who applied for passports from mid-October onward have been receiving them in 2 weeks to a month, without expedited service. The disastrous conditions were back in the summer, when people were applying for passports in droves to take summer vacations. Once people finished their summer vacations and passport offices ramped up more staff to tackle the backlog, things began improving in September and now seem to be back to normal processing times. I think you will get your passport relatively quickly. All the best to you also!

You're right. I had two ghost updates too after my oath ceremony - one on Dec 8 and another on Dec 13.

What a congratulations, been waiting since may 2021 and some applied in 2022 and got their citizenship.
What a dilemma that will never end
