Hi Thaliada,

I am not sure it your case might be similar, but just wanted to let you know that my husband received a letter from CIC saying our application was sent to the LA VO for processing. We were really confused and worried about it because we were told it was in Ottawa when we called to find out about SA status at the beginning of July and also in their email reply which came after we finally got through to someone on the phone. The letter was dated June 17 (date in ECAS for decision made- stage 1) but was postmarked on July 18.

Of course I had just sent in my original FBI cert (unknowingly sent third party channeler report with app) days before we got the letter so I'm really panicking at this point! I emailed CPP-O yesterday to ask where it was actually being processed and they just responded that it is indeed at CPP-O and they got and attached the documents I sent. I also got the response at 11:07pm which I thought was odd. Maybe they are putting in some OT now to make up for the strike? Wishful thinking maybe?

For what it's worth, you may want to shoot them an email and see if your app is really in LA or if someone over there thought it would be fun to send out a bunch of wrong letters and watch us squirm :-)

First of all, I am glad your situation got cleared up and your documents were attached to your application. However, when I called them, the lady said the application was already transferred. Initially I thought all american-canadian applications will go to Ottawa, but that wasn't my case. My application went straight to LA, and I think I understand why. My husband is from Alabama, and on the application I wrote his residential address as an Alabama address, so they assumed that he will be living there - which makes sense to send it to LA instead of Ottawa. But then again, it's all up to them and I don't know how these things work. Thank you for posting this though. We should wait and see how everything goes. I wish you the best of luck! :)

Very nice!! What did they say?

Hi

Yes it was from my VO in Sydney confirming they have received the application from CIC

its says my application for permanent residence has been received by CIC Canada. As of June 20th which I thought was odd. It gives a new UCI number although the file number remains the same.
Nothing else really it just states again when to contact them with changes, how to check ecas ( I cant get in yet with the new UCI number)
and when to contact them as per the processing times on the website

That's it and its just got the Sydney address at the bottom

Well, that's very nice. I am glad you got this confirmation. I hope we will too (just for peace of mind, cause they are not very common)

June 20th is when they received it in Mississauga. So I am assuming they refer to that date not the date when they got it in Sydney. Weird.

I hope you all do to :) Its a nerve wracking process if only all VO's were sympathetic to the people waiting and checking ecas everyday and were vigilant about posting updates!

Thank you!! :) I wanted let you know just incase the same thing happened to you. Had we not called them and only recieved the letter I would think our app was in LA too because my address is in the US. Good luck to you too!!
