Hi i am new here but have been creeping around this forum lol
i have some questions and i would be appreciate your help.

this morning i got an e-mail from Ottawa where i applied and says

-----------
"This is in reference to your application for permanent residence in Canada.

In order for us to continue the processing of your application, we require the following document:

- Original Police Certificate from Japan.

- Indicate your current mailing address."

-------------------

is is normal to be asked second police certificate? ive already done it and sent it with my application and
im in canada and takes 2 months to get it from Japan so that does it mean i have to wait over 2 months until decision made?

What kind of documents do I have to send for indicate my current address?bill?

Do they just started processing my application?

im happy to hear from them but same time im upset :(
Was the police certificate you included valid? The issue date cannot be more than 3 months old when CIC receives your application.

If it was valid then I would provide a copy and a letter explaining so.

For proof of address send them a copy of a utility bill or something like that.

I am in Canada. From what I gather the process is the same (applicant needs to complete a consent form and send it to the sponsor) except you apply under the privacy act rather than ATIP. If the sponsor is outside of Canada then it will cost $5, it is free otherwise under ATIP.
Cheers for that ill look into it!

Thanks for quick reply, andrew-brit!
it was taken in June and applied in July. I understand it has an expiry date but I haven't gone anywhere outside Canada since 2013
which means the content of my police certificate remains unchanged. so I emalied them told about it.
hopefully dont need to get it again becasue i dont want to wait more and worried about whats going on my application:(

I hear ya!! Waiting and checking everyday :( I read on the U.S. applicant thread that processing times have increased slightly since last year when it was six months, it's looking more like 7/8 months due to cuts at the CIC processing offices etc. so we r sitting tight but hopefully no one has too wait too much longer! :) manifest those PRs

i would recommend looking at the ottawa spreadsheet because that's not what the stats acutally show. no one who was processed this time last year is going around saying they were processed in 6 months. i'm pretty sure the ones saying this are applicants NOW and they haven't actually reviewed the stats on the spreadsheet, instead they are assuming because SA was shorter, the entire process was shorter. this is NOT true at all!

it was very common for this time last year to be at 7-8 months, and there are plenty of 2013-early 2014 applicants that took LONGER (take a look at the processing times for february 2014 applicants). 6 months or less processing was over the summer, and basically affected march 2014-june 2014 applicants. so in the grand scheme of things, the amount of people who have seen shorter processing time are the minority. it is quite common for the processing time to go up and down because of the number of applications received and the time of year. the ottawa spreadsheet is in my signature below, and it lists applicants from 2013 and 2014. when looking at the list, july 2013 applicants received their copr's in MARCH 2014. It is easy to see total processing didn't consistently dip much below 150 days until late February 2014 applications. so right now, processing is still QUICKER than this time last year.

very good information! thank you. It's confusing to make sense of the timelines sometimes and what the trends really are. It makes sense that an influx would slow down the process for everyone. For me it's good to know it's normal to be waiting another month or so.

We sent our app in July, SA in November. I looked at CIC website and it says that Ottawa is 16 month wait time. Please say this is not true

no, `16 months is worst case scenario. currently it's taking 6-7 months for total approval. it will go up and down based on the volume of applications being processed. the blue link in my signature is the ottawa spreadsheet which tracks applications from 2013 and 2014. feel free to add yourself to the list, it is open editing and a great resource for seeing the "realtime" average for applications in ottawa, where us applications are processed.

Thank you I have added myself. Now 6-7 months is that from the time that It was filed or since it was transferred and sent to Ottawa from the day that they said SA on Nov 5?

when you look at the spreadsheet, it will show it is from the date the application was filed to when the application was approved.

no, it's not a requirement for the sponsor to be at landing. many people land on their own, especially if they are traveling by plane.

We received the dreaded 'need more proof your going to move' email from Ottawa today. I knew I should have included more, at least ottawa are actually processing July apps I suppose.
