Um, one question. I haven't received any communications re: a need for police clearance certificates or security checks? Does that mean it is not required? Or would you folks recommend getting it done asap?
CIC conducts name based checks for Canadian Police Certificate know as RCMP certificate. If there is no criminal match to your name they won't request RCMP certificate. However, you have to submit Police certificates for each country you've lived in for 6 months or more from when you turned 18 years old. These certificates have to be less than 3 months old when submitted to CIC and are normally valid for a year. Did you not submit any Police clearances/certificate at all??

Question regarding medical exam.
What is the normal cost for medical exam within Canada, I have been reading other posts on this forum and people are paying $2-300 within Canada.
There are 5 panel phyicians in my city (Edmonton, AB) and all charge $500 give or take. Am i getting rip off?
What even worse is the earliest availiable appointment is mid March!! :o

No, I did not submit any certificates. The 6 month condition does not apply for my case.

So you've been in Canada since or before the age of 18 and never spent 6 months or more in another country?

They have not requested police certificate from my country of origin either. And I have already received my Ready for Visa Letter email. Maybe that's because I had submitted it two years ago with my previous application which got refused due to other reasons.

Congrats Yoodada :)

Another 2-3 months after MR.

I have a question.... I am getting married in last week of April and I want to add my wife in my application so that we both get our PR together. Now that Medicals have started coming in for July applicants and my application was received on July 19th. so couple of questions:
1. Can I add my wife after my medicals/biodata requests are done? will they still consider the request and add her to my file?
2. Should I let CIC know now (via email) that I am getting married in April and want to add my wife or Should I wait for my MR to come first?

I seriously don't want to get my PR before marriage because if that happens - it will become very difficult to bring her in Canada.

Please if anyone could help and provide some advice, I shall be very grateful :)

Thanks

You get your marriage certificates + all her required documents (checklist), and send them to Ottawa. There is no problem with adding her, CIC will go through her documents and request MR for her when time comes.

One thing in my mind though, If you are getting married in April, how are you going to add her to your application? Since You will probably get PR by April. You can Delay MR exam, you will receive MR with in 2-3 weeks. You have 60 days to return MR to CIC. By that time, if you can gather all her documents, there is a chance.

Yes, exactly my worry that if I get my PR before getting married - it will become so tough to bring her here and will take one year.

Is it possible to add dependents to the PR application after the medicals are done? or do I need to do that before that?
