Hi, i had the same request from ottawa and sent it by email. I also didnt hear anything from them so I emailed them on friday asking for confirmation they received the docs. I had an email back 3 hours later ( I know i was in shock too!) saying everything has been received and it is in final stages. Today my ecas changed to decision made

I did emailed them too to asked if they received my husband docs but I still not received any reply from Ottawa. But today I checked my ecas, my status changed to decision made and they will notify us regarding their decision. Im really hoping that we will received his COPR very soon. Goodluck to us

Hi there,

Was that first paragraph a letter from the agent? It sounds incorrect, and that they think the sponsor is a permanent resident, opposed to a citizen. My fiance is the Canadian citizen and we have been residing in Australia the last four years with intent to move back to Canada. We jsut made sure we sent a lot of evidence that we were moving back a reestablishing ourselves in Canada (with flights, bank accounts, letters from family, job offers etc) At no time did 'residing' outside of Canada become an issue. It sounds like your agent is confused.

Yes, we think that it was a "bring your child to work day" and the kid punched in the codes for our case. We have a come back for this.

Cempjwi when the Canadian sponsor (citizen or permanent resident...it does not matter) lives in the foreign country with the person he is sponsoring he should include in the application information and documents to show that it is his intention to move back to Canada permanently. Does he file income tax returns in Canada, maintain bank accounts, own a home there, own a car? What is his connection to the foreign country other than his partner? Does he work in the foreign country? Copies of these kind of documents along with his explanation to show that he is only in the foreign country temporarily and solely to be with his partner and has retained residency connections to Canada should be included in the original application or at least sent now in reply to the letter you received from the CIC.

I have been living in the Philippines since July 2011 but my purpose here is solely to be with my partner. I do not work here and I make a point of continuing to file Canadian income tax returns. I also enclosed with the original application an explanation of my intent and purpose of being in the Philippines along with copies of my Canada Revenue Agency Notice of Assessment, copy of latest property tax bills on my house in Canada, copies of my current vehicle registration in Canada and copies of latest bank statements for Canadian bank accounts.

This is to establish that my residence is in fact Canada and not the Philippines.

Yes, it does matter. Permanent residents CANNOT live abroad while they are sponsoring someone. Canadian citizens can, but not permanent residents. They can travel abroad briefly (2-3 weeks max) but if it's more they risk having their sponsorship denied.

Thanks, we were aware of that. Sponsor is Canadian citizen by birth living in the US.

haha... oh dear - let's hope not! Actually... at least that would be a good excuse for the sloppy error!
Either way if it's not official mail from CIC I wouldn't worry too much.
