If somehow we get an offer then can we not use it for work permit and later on we can use the same for PR process. That way we can join the corresponding company much faster.

There are different documents you get from the employer for a work permit vs. immigration.

The one for work permit is called LMO and is a bit harder to get. The employer has to prove that he has advertised extensively and not found any Canadians. In this economy, Service Canada has been cutting down on LMO's issued. Some say they are down to 25% of what they were a year go. If you did get an LMO issued, you can absolutely use it for a work permit and apply for your immigration later.

The document for immigration is called AEO and would allow you to apply for FSW category 2 or depending on the province, possibly for PNP nomination which you can then use to apply for residency.

Sir Leon,

Thanks for your detailed information on the subject. Suppose I get an AEO through some consultant. But how could I ensure that this is genuine because I have to pay in advance for AEO. How to check the genuineness of AEO. One more question, given the present scenario, is it difficult to get AEO and how difficult is it to clear it from HRSDC?

Thanks in advance.

You can contact the company the AEO is for and ask. I do not know how hard AEO's are to get but in any case, easier than LMO's

Thanks Leon. Plz also reply to my following queries:

1) Do I have to enclose the AEO alongwith initial application to be sent to Sydney, NS?

2) Do I have to enclose ORIGINAL or Notarised Photocopy of AEO?

3) The Application Fee would be for Principal Applicant or for the whole family?

4) Can the prospective employer withdraw AEO after I have submitted it with my application?

Regards.
