Try immigrating to the US or Australia, then you'd have something to really complain about.
I look at it as thousands of applications come in daily. Shit takes time.
I don't like waiting, but I'll be patient and wait.

The US hasn't updated their immigration system in 60 years if ever. Australia by comparison is faster. A buddy of mine who sponsored his partner inland has received her Temp residency in less time than it took Manila to open my wife's application.

I have been patient and I have waited. It does not take 1 year to process any application unless no one is reviewing it. Either complete it or deny it and let me get on with the appeals process. A routine application takes less than 2 weeks to process once it is opened. So what's the hold up? A government that reduces government services as quickly as they can and an Immigration Minister that refuses to negotiate a fair contact with the people that actually do the work.

While it's wonderful he has an FB account, are you sure it's even ACTUALLY him... It could be that everyone in his office has access to it.

I think Tony Benn said it wonderfully...

"Tony Benn: Keeping people hopeless and pessimistic - see I think there are two ways in which people are controlled - first of all frighten people and secondly demoralize them.
Tony Benn: An educated, healthy and confident nation is harder to govern."

Sad. I wish people were not scared to stand up for what they believe in, but we are.

HE does not bother himself with petty Facebook comments. HE has office monkeys that do that. HE is busy reducing the barriers to temporary foreign workers and increasing the barriers to family sponsorship.

Tony Benn is a smart guy whoever he is. In order to appease the majority you have to destabilize the majority. It would be great for everyone if governments concerned themselves with growing the middleclass but that would mean less profit to Corporations.

I have never been afraid to stand up and speak my mind about anything. That is the right of democracy. People who fear it have no business living in a democracy.

Really? Because I have a few friends who live in Australia now who told me how hard, expensive and discriminatory the process is to get there.

When there are thousands of applications a day, I'm not surprised that it takes a year for things to be done.

When there are 1000's of applications a day you don't close visa offices if you are interested in reducing processing time and backlogs.

Not sure how discriminatory Oz immigration is. My buddy's partner is Japanese. Australians are used to not paying for most government services so any payment they have to make would be considered expensive. I was living there when they first introduced tuition fees and they were only a few 100 dollars then.

I'm not suggesting that your opinion isn't valid but it is much easier to wait when you spouse is in the next country over or has easy access to a visitor visa. When you application gets fooked up and left for dead while others go sailing past you the ability to be patient is lost.

I can't remember which user it was offhand but there was one in the Sept or Oct 2012 threads that said he was cancelling his Canadian app and was going to apply in Australia because it is much faster.

I think it is faster but maybe a little more expensive.

This is my understanding - it's harder for skilled workers to immigrate to Australia versus Canada. Canada is considered easy. Or at least, it was. Australia was also seeing a much better economic return from it's skilled worker program, whereas Canada wasn't close to meeting economic goals.

I have no clue about family class in Australia. It might be easier and that's where the confusion is coming from.

Sounds about right to me.
