I downloaded the PR datadump for 2010 - 2015 found at http://open.canada.ca/data/en/dataset/427337d0-7c36-4fed-8428-c6a63f8c19b3
When filtered for "Federal" destinations, "All Points of Service", "2015" and then checked "Family Class" it emerged that "80% of the cases were completed within 20 months or less".

Sh1t !!! So average timeline is NOT 17 months but actually 20 months. Not cool....

Hi folks,

I only have a simple question and needed to know about those who have recent experience from PR application for Uganda.

I applied for family sponsorship for my wife (Ugandan).
I submitted Dec.2015, it states that end of Jan.2016 is when they received it.
On the website, the status shows IN PROCESS, and the general idea that the approval takes up to 17 months,
From your experience, when should my wife be notified of the final decision?

I submitted all documents and thoroughly with all the government required.
I've had a friend, about 4-5 years ago where she married a Kenyan and her husband got approval within 4 months and NO INTERVIEW.
Another friend, about 7 years ago married a Kenyan lady and his wife got approval in 7 months and there was interview.

What do you think?
Is it guaranteed that she will be interviewed?
Where do we go from here if she gets approved next week?

Hi skwan! I am a January applicant sponsoring my Ugandan husband. Since I applied after you I haven't any first hand information to provide you but can let you know what I was told. Unfortunately the Dar Es Salaam office seems to be one of the slowest, much slower than Nairobi was. I was told there are a few people that have been approved in 7 months or so (not sure if that's from when they applied or it got transferred to Dar). However most people on this forum through Dar have been waiting a year or more, even for straightforward complete cases. Since it's a new office and relatively small it's hard to gauge what the expected time frame is as not many approvals yet. I pray things speed up as that is too long to be separated especially since most through Dar would not be approved for visitor visas. I haven't heard of any interviews yet so not sure how common they are. You can search for the Dar Es Salaam thread to link up with others going through that office.

Have you received any communication from Dar? Confirmation they received your application? Any requests for additional information? Please keep me updated on your progress as you will likely hear something before me.

Do you know what the next step is? Are we just sitting and (hopefully not) waiting for further document requests?

If nothing further is requested, is the next step simply passport request?

Been checking on other forums
And yes i think all we need is to wait if they'll request for additional documents, if they woudn't need any more documents it would go ahead to Passport Request

They'll need the actual passport
Because that's where they will stamp her entry visa

Oh ok so I guess she will have to mail it to them once they ask for it and how long does that usually take once they have the passport to give it back with the visa
