There were 3 options when I ordered mine from CPC-M - "sponsor", "sponsor and applicant" and "applicant". I didn't have my hubby's signed authorization, so I ordered just for me (sponsor).

Once you have a signed authorization for your spouse, select "sponsor and applicant", pay $5 and make the request under the Access to Information Act.

I had signed authorization from my husband but I did two separate requests. One for just the applicant and one for the sponsor. I only had to pay $5 for the former. Yes, the link posted by Edgehead is where I went. I think I did it wrong though, you are supposed to choose "sponsor and applicant" and then attach the signed authorization. I figured that out after when I completed the survey but anyways the request was still processed.

If you had:
1. signed authorization from your hubby
2. made request under Access to Information Act
3. paid $5
4. selected "sponsor and applicant"
5. office you are requesting notes from: CPC-M,

then you should get for both yourself and husband.

Isn't this what you did?

Also, remember each officer does it differently. I believe some do not put down many words.

I don't think ever saw anything that said"sponsor and applicant"

This is the information that I followed from a fellow member Avadra(?) on here. I got my husband to sign the form right away. I do remember at some point having the option to select, sponsor, applicant, or sponsor and applicant but I ordered them like a month ago so really can't remember details of the process. I'm sure you could order them separately and sounds like that's what you want to do.

"On the online form after you select

GCMS notes are the visa officer's comments on your file. It usually contains more information than the "one-liner" updates we get on ecas. There are two ways to request them:

1. under the Privacy Act (free of charge) but you must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or someone with legal status(visitor, student, worker) present in Canada. This is the one you use when you are requesting your own notes.
Here's the link: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/DEPARTMENT/atip/requests-personal.asp

or

2. under the Access to Information Act (for $5 fee) - this is the one to use to get your sponsored spouse's notes. But your spouse has to give consent for you to do this on his/her behalf by completing and signing this form: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/atip/form-imm5744.asp (i.e. IMM 5744) which you can scan and upload.
Here's the link: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/atip/requests-atip.asp"

Hmm.... I just tried to redo it(just to see) and I noticed something different. There is no option to select the visa office from which I wanted the files. When I requested mine in February through the Privacy Act, there was that option and I chose CPC-M, after which it gave me those 3 options I mentioned earlier.

Perhaps, this could explain why you may not have seen the 3 options? Strange!!!

Exactly!! I noticed that too, that I couldn't select the visa office. I think they've changed it! The first time, I did see the visa office and I put CPC-M but I think I must have only chosen 'applicant'. Not that it really matters anyway, I guess!

Husband's notes are nearly identical except for the bolded part as follows:

"8 photos of PA, no biodata on back. PA has a visitor refusal dtd 2011/07/27. SPR is CC by birth. SPR's 2012 Opt C total income -----------. Employer's letter dtd 2013/10/17 certifies full time permanent position and completion of probation. Pay stub is dated 2013/10/04. Welfare check not required. PA and SPR have a child who was born in and resides with mother in Canada. No adverse information found. SPR meets eligibility criteria.
Passed decision. Letter emailed to SPR and APR file forwarded to VO. Shredded documents not reqd: 1. EI claims printouts from Service Canada account. 2. 2011 NoA 3. 2011 T4 slip 4.--------- Uni job posting."

Other information that I was able to gather from the notes include the following:
-Eligibility, Security and criminality are 'not started' yet
- Medicals: passed (No health impairment sufficient to prevent admission for medical reasons under Section 38).
- Application has been transferred from the registry to PPS (points paper screening) and it's the paper file.

So overall, I think the notes were more useful than I expected. BTW - The visitor refusal refers to a TRV that we applied for him to visit me back in 2011. I think this actually supports our case in regards to the the history and length of our relationship and also because I mentioned this in my 'timeline of relationship' letter.

now back to waiting......

Thanks for sharing that, basketballfan. Some interesting insights there. Good thing they didn't return your application for not signing the backs of the photos :) ! Was there an agent's name / ID included?

It only took 86 days...but I officially got my SA today. Application has been forwarded to the visa office. It was a real test of patience for me but hubby is so worth it. Now the real fun begins. Bring it on!!!!

Please update the spreadsheet for me. Thanks a bunch! :P

Congrats ama1978 on your SA...and your patience! That's incredible, 86 days. Hopefully you'll be rewarded with a 'karmic bounce' and your hubby will get his visa sooner than expected now. I think we all share your sentiment that it's worth all the hassle nonetheless.

Thanks Edgehead. I forgot to mention you could update my "medicals received" as well. It doesn't give a specific date and it's been there for a little while now...so maybe just put today's date??? Thanks!

As for the patience...I didn't really have much of a choice. But hubby definitely helped me with that. He always has the attitude that everything is in God's Hands. So I just kept reminding myself of that. It helps that I just got back from spending three glorious weeks with him. So my mind was a little occupied. ;D

Finally! I was wondering whether you received it or not. Congratulations! Let's hope the PR part won't lag behind for you. :)
