My sympathies too ama1978....maybe think positively in that it hasn't been lost or anything that catastrophic. Hopefully once they get their attention back on it they will realize their error and expedite it. It is odd that you didn't get an "official" AOR, why would they send another email, and what does an email like that even look like? Stay positive as best you can, maybe it will all shake down in the next couple days :)

Ama and I both called the call centre and asked what was going on.. our non-official AOR's were just an update for us to see what was going on with our application. They looked like this:

"RE: IMM_File_Status

Dear Client,

This email confirms that your Application to Sponsor a Member of the Family Class was received by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) at the Case Processing Centre in Mississauga on January 27, 2014, on behalf of the following family member(s):

xxxxxxxx

What happens next?
You may be contacted at any time during this process to provide additional information before a decision is made by an officer. Once a sponsor’s eligibility has been assessed, the sponsor is informed of the eligibility decision in writing.
Please note that while the sponsorship application is in process, email inquiries about the status of the application will not be acknowledged and you will not receive a response."

So no UCI or file number or anything - just a response to the note that was sent as an inquiry.
I got my 'official' AOR today, so I'm hoping that ama's is on it's way too!

Yes that could be worse. I read on the February thread that they lost the whole proof of relationship package of an applicant. Imagine you have to gather all of that again. And there is irreplaceable things in that.

That is strange indeed. The initial letter looks much like the actual AOR (in comparing to my own too), wonder why they would send something so half-cocked, maybe different officers handling things differently? In that case the CIC training dept. (or quality assurance if something like that exists there?) has some work to do I would say. What's most important at this point anyway is the SA, not the preamble....and let's get used to a long waiting game ahead, as the application goes to the foreign VO. (Heck, I still haven't got the SA, kind of assuming it...positivity! :))

Just called the call centre. I am about through with them. So this is where it is at. They have my application. I did receive an email last Friday from the dept. acknowledging receipt BUT it is not the typical email you get from them. It was sent to me direct due to an inquiry into the file as nothing had been done at that point. Now I am being told that my file is "in process". No client ID or file # has been assigned to my file at this time. So really...so it seems I don't even have an official AOR yet. They told me to call back in a couple of weeks. :o >:( :o >:( :o >:(

ama - processing times just updated to Feb 3th.. call them again and give them heck!

Yes. You are right. It could be worse. It has just been a very stressful year. I leave for Ghana in two weeks and wanted this part done so it would not be on my mind while I am there. :)

I understand you ama. It was not my intention to lessen the importance of your situation, I was trying to cheer you up. :D

Oh I know. No worries. It didn't feel like you were trying to lessen the importance of it. With the way everything has been going this year I am not surprised.

Lucky you with 14 months. Dakar is 23 months. :o I read in the Dakar thread that they were adding officers to that office, if true, hope it helps.

I just noticed that in your post Edgehead. Very interesting. Looking at a 250-day or so average processing time after SA. That makes the total process in the neighbourhood of 9 months on average. Better than the 14 month average posted on the CIC web site, but still too long imo.

To all the January Manila VO applicants,
I just found out that we have been included in the Manila VO spreadsheet which is maintained by the Manila thread for English speakers. You can find the link in my signature and you are free to update your information there as well.
Looks like the maintainer is really reading all the monthly threads to find the Manila applicants because I never asked to be included in that spreadsheet. :o

thank you Edgehead78 yes,, i saw my name also in spreadsheet of Manila VO :)

YES! just got SA, finally!

Hey Congrats Zarilenth! ..... So now we know that the AOR may or may not be "official" or different officers are using different form letters...? Anyway, main thing is you got the SA. Hope ama and I are at the head of the line for receiving next...!

Thanks Aniabella :) I do have a note on it about sending in medical results ASAP, but I'm sure everything will work out.

Yeah think so too, since you've done them and can just send the receipt in. It's really great it worked out like this and you didn't have to resend the whole package!
