ITA received and my company asking to applu for WP extension

Hi Folks,

I am in Canada on WP from last couple of years. i just received ITA and apparently my WP is expiring soon so my Company has asked my to apply for WP extension. Can someone please tell me what would be the consequences it i apply for WP extension and same time it i submit my PR documents to process?

Hi,
If WP expiring within 2-3 months, better submit the papers not much issues with it.
It's always good to have valid status when PR in process.

Its expiring in march 30... the one i have and company will be applying again is ICT.

Submit the paper means for WP?
I was thinking to apply for WP extension and than later couple of days will go for PR. My deadline for submitting documents for PR is 5th of January. Would there be any issue if CIC get my WP processing request and at the same time my PR processing request as well>

If you submit your PR application and get your AOR letter (right after applying) you can apply for an open work permit which is called Bridging Open Work Permit. You can get it easily if your recent work permit is still valid, and your PR application is complete. That's a relatively easy process and your company doesn't have to do anything with it, since it's an open work permit. I don't know how you would extend your recent work permit and how hard that process is, but BOWP will cover your complete processing time and it's open. Just be sure you submit a complete application.

apply for the WP extension (it's called BOWP) about a week or at least couple of days after submitting your PR application (neither before or at the same time).
