Well this is hard to predict ! sometimes you can be lucky without much effort you can get a job when you are in canada. But I have seen many people who struggled to get a job even though they were highly qualified and had tons of experience. And it also depends on the job market and province/ city you choose to work.

Its been 3 months in Canada, Myself and my wife have come here. Jobs are there to see online but when you apply there is nothing that is coming up. Many people ask for Canadian Experience or Canadian Reference. If you dont have any of this you are gone, it will take a while to get a job.

It is easy to get a temp job here but you will miss out on your main stream jobs. I am not from any consultant.

I have 8 yrs experience in Desktop Support/Technical Support/Operations/ worked with companies like GE Money, NHS (UK based, I lived in UK for 4 years) and CtrlS (Hyderabad, India).

My wife has 9 years experience in Testing worked for IBM India and Oracle India.

I wanted to create a group where people can share they thoughts about IT job searching in Canada.

There are couple of consultants and we are in touch with them about testing jobs in Canada. There is quite a huge market for software testing in Canada. All you need is Canadian experience or Canadian Reference.

There you go ! you are at step one then, I nearly wasted about 7 months in toronto hoping to get a position, went through many agencies even there are few scammers who will encourage to enroll you in some courses n promise to get you the jobs: bottom line all my efforts were wasted. and I realized we need canadian experience so I did volunteering with an IT company soon after that I got the job.

Sorry to hear this, I am not much familiar with student visa to PGWP (PG Work Permit) to PR process. Could you please explain what is stopping you to get a PR? I am sorry if I am asking you too much. I just wanted to see if there is anything I could do.

Never mind there is not much that can be done by anyone except the cutoff gets lower in EE. so the applicants who applied before december 2014 have a different process for PR when compared to the applicants trying to apply after January 1st 2015. Basically its a points and draw based system for PR now. Moving forward yeah the job process was extremely painful for me however I got one but my time is running out for applying PR. I would suggest to think twice before getting in to the consultancies and never sign a contract for getting jobs with them.

on what status ru right now? do u have PR already?
