Hi everyone! My fiancée (principal applicant) received this letter from IRCC today. We're trying to figure out if it's an AOR or not. I did some searching but found mixed results. Can anyone confirm? Thanks so much!

Pic of the letter -
It's not AOR it's AIP. It's Called approval in principle. That means you are now approved from sponsor and principle applicant side. once BG is completed you will receive the PR portal request

Thank you for the replies!

So, my fiancée currently has a closed work permit which expires on August 1st. Do we need to wait for the AOR to apply for an OWP or should we apply now? Thanks again!

You can apply for it but I believe you will get your PR soon. Most likely 2 weeks but you can apply now you have received AIP which is last and most imp. Step in the application

Hmmm it doesn't seem possible we'd be approved for PR so quickly - we just submitted our application on May 10th.

Aor is really just saying ircc receive your application and they will give application number,AIP is letting you know that u met eligibility to apply under the category and with your AIP u can now use your AIP to apply for open work permit..

I don't think this is AIP. It's just eligibility confirmation, which this early should be considered same as AOR.

Not 100% certain I admit though.

Unless things have changed (always possible)...It actually is AIP.

AOR is simply the acknowledgement that the `package' has been received by IRCC. Nothing was opened and zero checks have been made to asses the information contained in the package.

What does Acknowledgment of Receipt (AOR) mean in the context of spousal sponsorship application in Canada?

When applying for spousal sponsorship in Canada, one of the first milestones in your application process is receiving the Acknowledgment of Receipt (AOR). This is essentially a communication from Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) confirming that they have received your application. The issuance of the AOR is a critical step, but what exactly does it entail, and what is its importance?

Happy to bow to your knowledge on this one.
