You can ask for a new one but you don't get to pick. IRCC will pick a new one for you.

how many times can I keep postponing the date.... sounds dumb
Basically twice if IRCC accepts your reasons for postponing. Otherwise your appliction is canceled.

Why dumb? Most people actually live in Canada so it isn’t a big deal. Not sure why Canada should make it easy for people to get citizenship when they have already left. The fact that Canada even gives citizenship if a person has no intention to ever return boggles the mind of the majority of Canadians.

I think Canadian immigration system has close competition with like Australian, in terms of point-based system and citizenship requirements.

if one of them changes the immigration policy the other usually follows, otherwise high skilled immigrants might choose the other country.

right now Australia doesn't require people to stay in country after gaining citizenship , so Canada does the same.

That is one country. In general it is easier to get PR in Canada. Things balance out.
