Hi,

I am trying to upload the documents for my study permit and I only see a part for letter of explanation. I see people mentioning statement of purpose but I do not see that in my application except the letter of explanation. I wanted to ask if the two are the same...thanks.

I think they are both the same.

click the question mark(blue) at the end of the item name, there is detailed info on it.

I did just that I got confused because people on the forum keep talking about statement of purpose (SOP) and I did not see anything like that on my the application page.

I think it may vary on regions. For me it was called "Itinerary" or "letter of intention". I think at the end it all comes to the same...

What if a person has refusal already ? then wouldn't it be that Cover Letter will explain the reasons of refusal and SOP will explain the intent and your study goals ??

I see, I only see letter of explanation under the optional documents section.

So there you should fit in everything, I guess...

Can't you just fit in everything in the same letter?

That's what I am confused also. So I asked :).

I did just one letter, I think that should work...

And how long it should be, specifically how many words approx.? I came to know on different posts. that we should keep it as short as we can.

Yes, I also know it should be kept to a minimum, no longer than 1.5 pages. But it should not be boring. It is not the same reading 1 very boring page than 3 very interesting pages... I mean that the better you do it the more chances, even if you can't keep it that short...
