Is PEQ Graduate stream almost impossible these days?

Hi everyone,

My cousin will be graduating from Concordia this Fall semester - she completed the required french course (FRAN 305 oral communication) and has taken the TEFAQ to fullfill the french language requirement. She is actually only required to take the course or do the TEFAQ according to the immigration.quebec website but she decided to do both because of the horror stories with MIDI and the french proficiency “refusal” nonetheless a few of her friends have been rejected so the question is: is the PEQ graduate stream almost impossible? It seems that even those who fulfill the requirements are still being rejected so any insights? Did anyone recently apply and got the CAQ/CSQ? If it makes a difference she is Egyptian - I heard Asians and Middle Easterns are “targeted” by MIDI for interviews and rejections.

Any insights would be highly appreciated.

Best,
Lila

Who said that? Don't get overreacted just because of what you heard of. Many applicants received their CSQ under PEQ graduate stream. The "horrible" experiences by far I've heard is regardless of your category - graduate or temporary worker - that is faced by all PEQ applicants.

However, for recent applications, the request for interviews is still going on if you filed your application using french courses. For standardized exams like the TEFAQ, you better re-evaluate your results by yourself before you submit you PEQ application to play safe. Many still received their CSQs in a short period of time.

STAY POSITIVE!

The PEQ for graduates is never impossible. MIDI is questioning teaching quality of those French courses. A lot of students couldn't even do self-introduction in French after taking those courses.

Your cousin will almost surely be invited to an interview if she apply with the course certificate. It's better for her to take Tefaq exam. But nowadays MIDI also randomly selects Tefaq-takers for interviews or ask Tefaq result be re-evaluated. It's possible that a B2 result be lowered to B1 or lower after the reevaluation, making a candidate unqualified for PEQ.

Nothing is impossible... we need to remind positive... Worst case 1: MIDI calls you for a interview... but if you have the french, you will be fine! Worst case 2: MIDI downgrades your TEFAQ, but you can re-apply!

Will MIDI continue to issue CSQ on priority basis (Within 20 days)
under student PEQ category or will consider all PEQ-CSQ applications under new scheme (Expression of Interest) w.e.f. 2 Aug 2018?
