I have a valid open work permit till September 2019, I got an admission from a university (masters degree) and I got my study permit a month ago. I wanna know if my work permit is valid and I can work more than 20hrs a week.
Thank you in advance.

No. You changed your status from worker to student and must follow the student rules about working hours. Also, as you are now a student, you are not allowed to work until you start your studies.

Thank you for your reply,
Please read this link, here it says that I can have both permits at the same time. I also called IRCC, under work permit category there is an option about getting study permit when you have a work permit and there she says you can work until your work permit is not expired. So I considered that my work permit is valid.

Anyway, after getting my permit I have registered in the university and reduced my working hours to 20hr a week. My work is outside the university and in skill type A. Can I use work experience during my education for my PR?

How did you obtain the work permit? What application specifically did you submit for your study permit?

I got my open work permit as my wife is a graduate student at a public university in Canada. And got my study permit as I have been accepted in a public university (masters degree) as well (I have enrolled in the program). I applied for my study permit while I had my work permit. when I check my work permit on my profile the status is valid till September 2019.

The link you referred to is for IEC permit holders. You don't have an IEC permit. When a person in Canada applies to change their status and is approved, the previous status is void.

1. That link is for International Experience Canada, you have a work permit, not an IEC. Don't believe what information you receive from the CIC "misinformation line"
