If you got salary for that, then yes.

But are you not going to count this under your education? I am not sure but I think this is your education and not work experience.

I have to count this as education... It is a resident designation. Usually in India we consider this as work experience

This will be considered as masters and you will be claiming points for that. I don't think you can claim points on both education and work for the same thing. This is postgraduation and I think you cannot claim as work experience though you were paid.

If you can provide a reference letter for that time period, you can claim this as a part time work experience.

Can he claim this as work experience when he is going to claim this as his post graduation?

If it is required work to become a physician it is usually counted as education. You receive a fraction of your salary. I assure you have already researched this but if you would like to continue working as a physician I would strongly discourage immigrating to Canada. It is extremely hard to get relicensed, only a very small fraction of applicants are successful and you basically have to repeat your residency again in most cases. Most IMGs are limited to GPs. It is getting even harder due to the increased enrolment in Canadian medical schools plus Canadian students who have studied medicine abroad get first choice for any unmatched residency positions. Many MDs arrive and are shocked when they realize what they are up against.

I am not planning to work as physician. I would like to work in research field or Pharmaceuticals.

Thank you for the reply.. Can you please elaborate on how to show that as part time? Is a letter from Head of the department enough??
No, you need reference letter. If you were getting paid, then salary slips as well.

Hi, I am in a similar situation. I did MD pathology from India. Has anyone shown Residency as a work experience of 3 years. What is required to show as a proof? Everyone was 3lakh/year as a salary for 3 years, but I used to get it deducted from my fee. Will the written document on a letter head will work?
